Michelin Bib Gourmand-approved Hjh Maimunah Restaurant will be opening a new outlet in the CBD on 4 January 2021, serving up plates of their esteemed nasi padang. If you’ve been to Arab Street, you probably would’ve noticed their flagship outlet, considering it’s always bustling with people, along with a steady queue that almost never ends.

This time, the new outlet takes a spot in the basement level of Hong Leong Building, right smack in the heart of the CBD.

Hjh Maimunah Restaurant serves a selection of 40 over dishes for you to pair your rice with. Their kampung-style menu evokes a sense of comfort and warmth, and they put a lot of dedication into their food. In fact, every dish uses a whopping number of 11 different spices─from the sound of it, you already know there’s going to be a medley of flavours.

Some recommended picks include the Beef Rendang─a 30-year-old recipe that uses homemade rempah and braised till fork-tender. The rich and tangy Assam Pedas Fish Head is also another favourite. For non-meat options, I recommend the Terung Belado⁣, which is fried, tender eggplants tossed in punchy sambal chilli.

They have also recently opened a new stall in Tampines Mall’s food court, which is much like the one at City Square Mall. Though it’s not a full-fledged restaurant, you’ll still be able to enjoy a vast array of their delectable dishes.

While waiting for the new outlet at Hong Leong Building to open, visit their other outlets at Tampines, City Square Mall, Joo Chiat, as well as Arab Street to get your nasi padang fix.
