Michelin Bib Gourmand-approved Hjh Maimunah Restaurant will be opening a new outlet in the CBD on 4 January 2021, serving up plates of their esteemed nasi padang. If youâve been to Arab Street, you probably wouldâve noticed their flagship outlet, considering itâs always bustling with people, along with a steady queue that almost never ends.Â
This time, the new outlet takes a spot in the basement level of Hong Leong Building, right smack in the heart of the CBD.Â

Hjh Maimunah Restaurant serves a selection of 40 over dishes for you to pair your rice with. Their kampung-style menu evokes a sense of comfort and warmth, and they put a lot of dedication into their food. In fact, every dish uses a whopping number of 11 different spicesâfrom the sound of it, you already know thereâs going to be a medley of flavours.Â

Some recommended picks include the Beef Rendangâa 30-year-old recipe that uses homemade rempah and braised till fork-tender. The rich and tangy Assam Pedas Fish Head is also another favourite. For non-meat options, I recommend the Terung BeladoâŁ, which is fried, tender eggplants tossed in punchy sambal chilli.Â

They have also recently opened a new stall in Tampines Mallâs food court, which is much like the one at City Square Mall. Though itâs not a full-fledged restaurant, youâll still be able to enjoy a vast array of their delectable dishes.Â
