Popular Ho Ma Roasted Chicken Rice From Ipoh Opens First Outlet In Singapore

Ipoh’s Ho Ma Chicken Rice in Singapore

Travel across the Causeway is made easier now, but there are still plenty of delicious Malaysian food gems to be found on home turf, should the craving strike when you’re not on a trip. There’s curry chee cheong fun, famous roast duck, kolo mee, and now, roasted chicken rice from Ipoh. Ho Ma Chicken Rice has recently opened their first Singaporean flagship in Jurong West, bringing their famed roast chicken, siew yoke, and butterfly pea rice to our shores.

If you’ve not heard of Ho Ma, the store is located in Ipoh’s Taman Boon Bak neighbourhood. They have a full fledged restaurant in Ipoh selling roast meat, rice, and zhap cai png-style dishes, all available at affordable prices. Their meats are smoked and barbequed in a traditional Chinese duck-roasting furnace, for maximum flavour.

For those who miss He Ma’s chicken rice, or have never tried it and want to experience it for yourself, head down to Blk 557, Jurong West St 42. The hawker stall will only have their roast meat and chicken rice offerings, as well as a steamed chicken rice option. Prices start at $3.50, no matter the meat of your choice.

Another thing unique here is the option to enjoy either butterfly pea chicken rice or yuan yang chicken rice. Though there isn’t a big impact on flavour, having striking blue rice does give you a reason to whip out your phone and snap a pic.

An ad for job hires at their stall implies they’ll eventually branch out into nasi lemak and fried noodles, so watch this space for updates.
