i12 Katong Now Has Tim Hortons, Edith Patisserie, Award-Winning Coffee And More New Eats To Check Out

New i12 Katong food places to dine at

Katong is a crowning jewel in the Eastside food scene, in no small part thanks to i12 Katong. The mall, which went through extensive renovations in 2022, reopened with a whole host of top-tier eateries. Fast forward to this year, and that directory of good food has only gotten longer. 

In 2024, more new renowned local and global eateries have joined the i12 Katong fray, offering both sweets and savouries. 

Canada’s very own Tim Hortons, for example, opened in Singapore last year to much fanfare, and they have been expanding across the city since. Their i12 Katong outlet is one of the franchise’s latest openings, bringing Tim Hortons’ popular doughnuts and coffee beverages to the neighbourhood.

To celebrate the coming festive season, Tim Hortons (#01-28) has a selection of Christmassy drinks and bites worth ordering. Gingerbread is a yuletide must-have, so drink your fill in the form of their new Spiced Gingerbread Latte ($7) or Spiced Gingerbread Iced Capp ($7.50). While the former is hot and the latter, cold, both blend bittersweet coffee with the warming gingerbread spice to create the perfect comfort drink. 

Pair this with the new addition to their Sourdough Melts series, the Cranberry Chicken & Mozzarella Sourdough Melt ($9.90++). Think: warm toasty sourdough and melty mozzarella blanketing juicy chicken pieces, brightened with dashes of cranberry sauce.

The vibes at the i12 Katong Tim Hortons are immaculate too—as the brand’s only location in Singapore with both indoor and outdoor seating, diners can sip their coffee and people watch against the backdrop of Katong and Joo Chiat’s historic Peranakan shophouses.

If specialty coffee is your preferred way to get your caffeine fix, swing by Greybox Coffee (#02-23/24). Their i12 Katong cafe marks their second outlet in Singapore, giving Easties easier access to their award-winning house-roasted coffees.

Aside from a range of expertly crafted classic brews, Greybox Coffee offers uniquely crafted beverages. The Planet Latte ($7.50) is one such drink, so named because it comes with a large ice sphere made from cold brew. Pour in the shot of espresso that comes with for more caffeine goodness. We’re big fans of the Dirty Mocha ($7.50) as well, a chocolatey, frothy delight reminiscent of tiramisu.

Coffee and a baked treat go hand-in-hand, so pair your cuppa with a slice of their decadent Oreo Cheesecake ($7.80) or a chewy Cannelé ($4.40).

i12 Katong also has a wide range of restaurants across different cuisines to dine at if you’re looking for a full-on meal. One new opening in this vein is Pin Xiang Hunan Cuisine (#03-29/30/31), featuring dishes from the Central Chinese province. 

Hunan cuisine is characterised by its hot and spicy flavours. Unlike the numbing mala spice of Sichuan cuisine, Hunan dishes have more “dry” heat, relying on shallots, garlic, and dried chillies to deliver both aroma and spice.

What’s more: the restaurant is currently running a promotion where you can get two of their signature dishes for $9.90 each, while stocks last.

Choose between the Dong An Braised Vinegar Chicken (U.P. $23.90++), a delicate dish that sees chicken flavoured with clear rice vinegar and chilli, the Hunan-style Chilli Stir-fried Pork ($25.90++), where fatty pork is stir-fried in a spicy, smoky fermented black bean and chilli sauce, or the Golden Pickled Vegetable Fish Soup ($26.90++), a sweet-sour delight with tender fish slices. 

After digging into these fiery dishes, head down to Xi Tang (#01-21) to quell the burn with authentic Hong Kong desserts. The HK-style Iced Red Bean ($4.50) is a cold, earthy treat that reminds us of childhood potong ice creams, while the Mango Pomelo Sago with Mango Ice Cream ($8.50) is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. 

Additionally, Xi Tang offers savoury HK mains and sides. Their HK-style Curry Fish Balls ($5) taste straight outta a street stall in Mongkok, best enjoyed with a piping hot bowl of Braised Beef Brisket Noodles ($12).

Aside from sit-down cafes and restaurants, i12 Katong has a handful of grab-and-go kiosks as well. Popular bakery Edith Patisserie (#B1-30) is one worth checking out, whether you’re looking to grab a bake for a midday treat or a cake for a special occasion. 

For a little bit of all their bestsellers, try their Assorted Mini Treats ($14.20), which comes with four assorted brownies and their mini Lemon Loaf. 

Edith Patisserie is renowned for their Earl Grey Brownies, where fudgy chocolate brownies are topped with a citrusy Earl Grey ganache to create utterly addictive bites. Enjoy a box of six pieces for $13.20.

We’ve just scraped the tip of the iceberg here of all the food i12 Katong has to offer. Located conveniently near the Marine Parade MRT Station, the mall is a worthwhile addition to your mealtime rotation when you’re in the East.
