Neighbourhood bakeries will always hold a special place in our hearts for their delicious yet affordable bakes. iBread, a charming bakery established in 2020, is one such—besides the usual range of breads and pastries, they also offer a trendy taro mochi cake, which has risen to internet fame lately. What’s more, you can find them in various neighbourhoods, including Beauty World, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Hougang, Pasir Ris, Tanjong Pagar, Tampines, and Toa Payoh.

Their new Taro Mochi Snowy Cake ($4.50) is a must-try for taro lovers! This delicate treat features incredibly stretchy and soft mochi in the middle, best enjoyed chilled. An online review stated that after spending some time in the fridge, the mochi becomes even chewier, enhancing its unique texture. The taro filling is said to be fragrant, reminiscent of classic taro mooncake, but with a creamier, smoother texture. It’s not too sweet, striking the perfect balance for those who prefer a more subtle taste.

Online reviewers have also commented that the cake itself is exceptionally soft and fluffy, coated with a layer of milk powder that adds a subtle, milky fragrance. Made fresh without preservatives, each bite offers a delightful combination of smooth taro, chewy mochi, and light, airy cake. It’s great paired with tea or enjoyed on its own as a quick snack!

Another must-try at iBread would be their Chicken Char Siew Tart ($1.80), which boasts a crunchy and firm tart shell with a char siew filling. This pastry is best enjoyed warm for maximum flavour.

Also worth trying are the Portuguese Egg Tart ($1.60), with its flaky crust and creamy custard filling, and the Cranberry Scone ($1.60), a delightful mix of tart cranberries and buttery scone. Otherwise, try the Coffee Walnut Bun ($1.50) or Spider Web Sausage Bun ($1.50), studded with hotdog slices and chicken floss.
