Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway And Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun Opens In Jurong West

Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway and Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun in Jurong West

Singapore went a little crazy last year when ex-MasterChef finalist Aaron Wong started Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway in Telok Blangah. Just a short while ago, he opened in Bedok, Bugis, and now, his fourth stall is set to launch in Jurong West tomorrow, 27 November. You’ll be spoiled for choice, because another famous brand that’s unveiling a new outlet is Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun, so you can get your fill of cheong fun by the ex-Peach Garden chef without needing to travel too far!

If you’ve never tried the mee hoon kway at Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway, the broth in his Signature All-In Combo Soup Mee Hoon Kway ($5) is said to be incredibly rich, while the Signature Dry Mee Hoon Kway ($3.50) features a smoky house blend of sauces.

The dry noodles come with a semi-cooked egg in the accompanying bowl of soup—we recommend mixing the egg in with the noodles for a creamy finish.

We also particularly enjoyed the handmade meatballs at Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway, especially when dipped in their house-made chilli sauce.

On the other hand, there’s Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun, where you can choose from four different cheong fun options: Plain Cheong Fun ($3), Char Siew Cheong Fun ($4), Mushroom Cheong Fun ($4), and the Prawn Cheong Fun ($5). All of these come in a savoury, soya sauce-based dressing.

We loved the house-made chilli dip, which was fragrant with dried shrimp, or hae bee, as well as the Mushroom Cheong Fun, where the generous filling of mushrooms lent an earthy, umami flavour to each bite.

For more new openings, check out these new food places at Kallang Wave Mall! Otherwise, Rong Cheng Bak Kut Teh has recently reopened in Ang Mo Kio and Bedok!
