Retro-inspired eateries seem to be having a moment lately, with the likes of Joji’s Diner at Serangoon and HK diner Friends Cafe along Sembawang Road popping up in the past year. One new entrant to the scene is Jumbadog, a casual joint in the west serving footlong hot dogs and gram-worthy milkshakes.
The cosy hot dog joint’s main wall is decked in uber-cute illustrations, adding to the retro vibes of the dine-in space. Although seatings are limited, the setting is casual and relaxed here.

Jumbadog specialises in hot dogs in a wide variety of flavours. For an unconventional pick, try the Tako Dog ($9.90), which features a medley of toppings inspired by the iconic Japanese snack, and comes slathered with a sweet and umami takoyaki sauce.
Other unique flavours include the Kimchi Dog ($9.90)—Japanese hot dog in a sun-dried tomato bun, topped with kimchi—and the Fire Dog ($9.90) inspired by the love for mala. The latter features a fiery mala hot dog with sauerkraut and sesame dressing to tone down the spice.

Those who prefer a more classic rendition can go for the Sloppy Joe ($9.90), a beef bolognese-topped hot dog with onions and hot cheese for that deliciously messy bite. Otherwise, if you’re picky, there’s a ‘Build Your Foot Long’ section dedicated to helping you customise your own hot dog!

Milkshakes and hot dogs go hand in hand, so you should definitely order a drink or two before leaving. There’s a slew of milkshake options to tickle your fancy, from the tropical Mango Milkshake ($5.90) to the alcohol-spiked Rum Raisin Milkshake ($9.80).
