Louis Vuitton Chocolaterie Opens In MBS, Their First International Outlet

Louis Vuitton opens a chocolate shop in Singapore

If you’ve ever visited the Louis Vuitton Cafe in Paris, you’ll be familiar with acclaimed chef Maxime Frédéric‘s iconic patisseries and chocolates, all of which pay homage to the French luxury brand’s iconic monogram. From 14 February 2024, you’ll no longer have to board a plane to try these treats, as Frédéric and his team have set up a chocolaterie in our city, located in Louis Vuitton’s Marina Bay Sands island flagship.

The chocolate shop, called Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric, is the brand’s first international outlet. When we were there at 12pm on their official opening day, 14 February, most of the items were already sold out. There was also a long line forming right outside the entrance, with a waiting time of around 15 to 30 minutes.

Frédéric’s Paris menu showcases lots of chocolate-based cakes and pastries, as well as entremets and bonbons designed with the brand’s monogram. At this Singapore outpost, the offerings seem to be limited to a smaller range, mainly of chocolates in gift-worthy boxes that are all made in France.

During our visit, only three products were in stock: Coated Hazelnuts ($44), Chocolate Bar ($30), and Chocolate, Hazelnut and Vanilla Spread ($50).

The Chocolate Bar was the cheapest item in the whole store; this came with five bite-sized chocolate squares beautifully packed in a specially designed Louis Vuitton box.

We enjoyed the rich hazelnut, gianduja (hazelnut paste), caramel, and cookie layer, which was lightly salted and paired excellently with the creamy milk chocolate.

Those who want something nuttier can go for the Coated Hazelnuts box instead, featuring milk chocolate truffles encasing French hazelnuts, tossed in cocoa powder.

Else, the Chocolate, Hazelnut and Vanilla Spread is another indulgent pick that you can zhng up your breakfast toast with.

This fancy spread is made with cocoa beans that are sourced from Peru as well as organic Madagascan vanilla, spiked with a tinge of salt.

If you don’t know much about Frédéric, here’s the lowdown: he is currently based at Pléntitude, the three Michelin-starred restaurant at the established Cheval Blanc hotel. In 2022, he was awarded the celebrated Pastry Chef of the Year by the Gault & Millau guide. Before his stint at Pléntitude, Frédéric’s resume includes the likes of Le Meurice, where he worked with Cédric Grolet, who also recently set up shop in Singapore.

Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton Singapore is just one of the several recent crossovers esteemed fashion houses have made with the F&B world. Last year, notably, we had the Coach Cafe make its Singaporean debut, and Ralph Lauren’s Ralph’s Coffee did the same. The latter also recently just opened their second, larger outlet in Orchard.

Address: 2 Bayfront Avenue, #B2-36, Louis Vuitton Island, Singapore 018972
Opening hours: Daily 11am to 10pm
Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric is not a halal-certified eatery.
