Louisa Coffee: Taiwan’s Biggest Coffee Chain Opens In Bugis With SG-Exclusive Menu

Taiwan-famous Louisa Coffee opens cafe in Bugis

If you’re a long-time Eatbook.sg reader, you’ll know just how much we rave about Taiwanese food in Singapore on this platform. Adding to the list is Louisa Coffee, said to be the largest coffee chain in Taiwan! The newly opened cafe has just set up its first Singapore outlet along Beach Road, a seven-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station.

Louisa Coffee started as a humble takeaway store in Taipei in 2006. Fast forward to today, the Taiwanese brand now has over 500 outlets in Taiwan, along with three branches in Thailand. This new cafe in Singapore marks their fourth international outpost.

According to a brand representative, the menu here is markedly different from the menu in Taiwan. Look forward to a small range of house-baked cakes and tarts, along with freshly prepared sandwiches, as well as barista-brewed coffee.

They have a Boston Cream Pie series, available in Asian-inspired flavours such as Matcha and Black Sesame. Each slice is priced at $6.50. If you love all things orh nee, you won’t go wrong with the Taro flavour, comprising soft and fluffy cake layers with a not-too-sweet yam paste and chewy mochi middle.

The cafe also offers a small selection of fresh tarts, including the Cheese Tart ($4.50). Best enjoyed cold, this bake features a rich and creamy cheese filling, with a lightly torched top.

Those who want something savoury will not be disappointed here either. The Beef Pastrami Cheese Wrapanini ($6.50) spotlights meaty pastrami slices and stretchy cheese between two slices of flaky bread, toasted to order. The cafe also serves loaded bagels, focaccia sandwiches and more at wallet-friendly prices!

Grab a caffeinated pick-me-up in the form of their signature Coffee Latte ($4.90), made with Taiwanese coffee beans. We found this brew well-balanced with a subtle sweetness from the fresh milk. Alternatively, order one of their specialty coffee; the Iced Black Coffee Latte ($6.90) is a delicious mix of charcoal, black sesame, espresso, and milk.
