If you, like me, are a diehard waffle enthusiast, you might have come across our guide to the best old-school waffles in Singapore. I’m constantly on the hunt for fresh, neighbourhood bakery-style waffles, so when I heard of Ma Mere Boulangerie, I knew I had to write about them.

Located in Marina Square, a short walk away from Esplanade MRT Station, this under-the-radar bakery sells a wide assortment of buns on display. Their made-to-order waffles, priced from just $1.50 a pop, are equally popular.

There’s the classic Peanut Butter waffle that goes for $1.70, perfect as a midday snack before you return to the office. Regular patrons claim that each waffle comes packed with a generous amount of thick and nutty peanut butter spread.

Other popular flavours include Chocolate ($2) and Kaya ($1.70). There’s even a Japanese Red Bean ($2.50) filling that goes well with the bakery’s soft and fluffy waffles. Otherwise, if you’re a waffle purist, opt for the Plain version instead, priced at $1.50 each.

Do note that Ma Mere Boulangerie’s waffles are on the soft and floppy side, and are not pandan-infused.

The Crunchy Black Sesame Bread ($1.80) is not to be missed, too. This stuffed bun features ground black sesame in soft, sesame-studded bread. It’s creamy, nutty, and not too sweet—great for morning fuel!

For the full list of food in the mall, check out our Marina Square food guide, which includes halal pancakes, Japanese BBQ and more. Alternatively, head to the nearby Millenia Walk to visit Black Knight Hotpot, a famous Taiwanese chain that’s just landed on our shores!

Address: 6 Raffles Boulevard, #02-271, Marina Square, Singapore 039594
Opening hours: Daily 11am to 9pm
Tel: 6268 8728
Ma Mere Boulangerie is not a halal-certified eatery.
