Maison Margiela Fragrances Pops Up In Bugis With Cafe Inspired By Famous Replica Perfumes

Maison Margiela Fragrances has a pop-up cafe in Bugis

It hasn’t been long since Louis Vuitton and Murakami had their pop-up cafe in Joo Chiat. This time, Maison Margiela Fragrances, a cult-favourite perfume brand known for its REPLICA range, is popping up in Bugis. They’re located in a two-storey shophouse, where you’ll find a cafe, plenty of photo spots, and even a mini workshop area. Visit the limited-time setup at Beach Road from now till 18 May 2025.

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted with a lineup of their popular fragrances, including the newly launched REPLICA Eau de Toilette named Afternoon Delight.

You’ll then see a mini cafe adorned in white—Maison Margiela’s signature colour—with limited dine-in seats. We encourage you to opt for takeaway as no extra charge is incurred, plus you get your goods packed in the brand’s paper bag with the iconic logo.

All their drinks and desserts are named after the brand’s most popular fragrances. For drinks, we had the Afternoon Delight ($9) and On a Date ($7).

The Afternoon Delight is essentially an iced latte with whipped vanilla cream and a shot of espresso. It’s relatively sweet, but not cloying, with a creamy and velvety smooth mouthfeel. FYI, the barista behind the counter is the founder of Equate Coffee, so you know your coffee is in good hands.

On the other hand, On a Date is the perfect quencher on a sultry day; it’s made using blackcurrant syrup, grape juice, and soda. It’s similar to a fruitade, just sweeter and fizzier.

Moving on to desserts, we had to get the Afternoon Delight ($5) and Dancing on the Moon ($7).

The former is a madeleine infused with vanilla bean and brown butter to replicate the base notes of the perfume, which can be described as woody and musky. This scallop-shaped tea cake was airy with a slightly eggy aftertaste.

Dancing on the Moon is a black tea cake with the brand’s signature white stitches on the edges. Think butter cake with a pronounced black tea flavour! In terms of texture, it was light and crumbly.

While waiting for your drinks and desserts, head up to the second level with lots of photo spots to feed your gram. Creative masterclasses are held here too, namely the traditional metal fabrication class on 5 and 6 May, and a wax sealing workshop on 15 and 16 May. You can book a slot here!

The pop-up is at Beach Road, a quick six-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station. For easy access, it’s located next to the famous nasi lemak restaurant The Coconut Club!
