McDonald’s Is Extending Their Temporary Closure Beyond 5 May 2020

McDonald’s is extending their closure past 5 May

In view of the Circuit Breaker developments the past month, McDonald’s initially announced their takeaway ban on 17 April 2020. But on 19 April, the popular fast food joint suspended all operations and outlets due to concern over escalating cases and the handful of McDonald’s employees that tested positive for COVID-19. Though the fast food chain was slated to reopen on 5 May 2020, McDonald’s will be extending their closure for the time being.

In an announcement made on their Facebook page and Instagram, McDonald’s explained that the extended closure was put in place to ensure the safety of their employees and customers. The fast food restaurant also assured that their frontline employees will continue to be paid their salaries during this temporary closure.

Though this news may come as a disappointment to many Macs fans out there, this delay is probably for the best as they have reported no new cases since the suspension of operations earlier this month.

If you’re missing your go-to burger fix, you can still get your cravings satisfied from other burger stalls that are still open during this Circuit Breaker. For instance, Fatburger’s Quad Burger (from $21.50+) is a four-patty stack that can rival McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder. The burger joint offers islandwide delivery for a flat delivery fee of $12.

If McDonald’s affordable prices are what you miss, go for the handcrafted burgers at Hammee’s. The most expensive item on the menu is their Signature Beef Cheeseburger ($6), which you can get via delivery platforms such as GrabFood, Foodpanda, and Deliveroo, or simply drop by for a takeaway.
