Priced at $3.50 for ala carte or $0.70 as an add-on to your Extra Value Meal, these numbing, piquant fried potatoes are the next generation of McDonald’s popular McShaker Fries range.

The powder dressing you add to the fries for the mala kick comprises Sichuan peppercorns, chilli powder, and other aromatic spices. Take a bite, and you’ll get the combination of spice, salt, and a pleasant hum of numbness that you expect from mala.

If you want to double down on the heat, there will also be a new 2x Value Meal launched. Share two McSpicy burgers, two Mala Shaker Fries, and two medium Coca-Cola drinks with a friend, all for $15.

You can also choose to really crank up the burn by getting McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McNuggets to go with your Value Meal. This is priced from $9.80 for a nine-piece Extra Value Meal, or from $13.80 for 20 pieces ala carte.

The bundle, as well as the new Mala Shaker Fries, will be sold at all McDonald’s restaurants islandwide and is available on delivery platforms such as McDelivery, GrabFood, and Foodpanda.

If you’re a huge fan of mala, we have plenty of other spicy treats for you to check out. This includes our Lao Dong Bei Shao Kao review, where we check out the latest two-in-one mala hotpot and barbecue buffet in Chinatown. Also, read our guide to the best mala xiang guo spots in Singapore.

For those who really just love ultra-spicy food, mala or not, then we have a review of the Bulmawang Devil Of Fire ramen, named the world’s spiciest instant noodles as it is made with Carolina Reaper peppers. London Fat Duck has also released Ghost Pepper Fish Skin, which you can snack on if you’re feeling masochistic.
