Moo Station: First Authentic Thai Dry Rice Porridge In Singapore, Served With Crispy Pork Belly And More

Moo Station At Crawford Lane

Travel may take a backseat for now, but we can still enjoy popular dishes from our favourite travel destinations—thanks to the wide range of foodie options in Singapore. Moo Station is a newly opened hawker stall that specialises in Khao Tom Haeng AKA Dry Rice Porridge, a not-so-common dish originating from the Land of Smiles, specifically Phuket.

The Thai eatery just opened its doors on 18 September, and was started by husband-and-wife duo, local David and Singaporean PR Sandy who’s originally from Southern Thailand. Sandy was inspired during her stint as a tour guide in Phuket, where she frequented a popular, Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded eatery that sold Khao Tom Haeng, a rare Thai-style Dry Rice Porridge.

Expect a lean menu here; a must-try is the Signature Pork Dry Rice Porridge, which comes in two sizes: Small ($5), and Large ($7). Each bowl of porridge comes with ingredients such as pork ribs, lean meat, handmade meatball, pork liver, and pork stomach. The large portion includes additional items such as kidney, small intestine and crispy pork belly. Rounding it all up is a topping of fried Thai garlic and pork lard.

Don’t mistake this for our local pig organ soup, as the preparation and taste are authentically Thai. The Dry Rice Porridge features rice cooked thoroughly with pork broth that’s been boiled for hours. The ingredients are also cleaned and cooked well for maximum tenderness and taste.

Also on the menu are the Crispy Pork Belly ($6), and the Pork Porridge ($4.50)—both equally perfect for a sweater weather meal. For an added oomph, level up your porridge with an Onsen Egg ($0.80) or Fried Pork Skin ($1.50).
