This Cute Kiosk Has Onigiri From $3.90 With Otah, Cheesy Chicken And More

Mr Onigiri has spam onigiri and more in Upper Thomson

It seems like the onigiri trend is here to stay for a while longer. With that, there’s a new kid in town for Upper Thomson residents to check out: Mr Onigiri, a takeaway kiosk that offers a good selection of onigiri from just $3.90.

The newly opened kiosk is located along the main stretch of shophouses, which is within a six-minute walk from Upper Thomson MRT Station.

Simply order at the window where you’ll find the menu in full display. Each onigiri is prepared and hand-assembled to order, so you’re getting them the freshest possible.

The Otakotak Onigiri ($6.90) is a unique take on the classic onigiri, as you get a generous chunk of spicy and savoury otah paired with tamagoyaki, spam, and mentaiko sauce.

Then there’s also the Signature Melty Cheesy Crispy Chicken ($5.90), featuring a deep-fried chicken patty with creamy tartar sauce and melty cheese for a party in the mouth.

Those who prefer sticking to the classics can opt for the Spam with Onigiri ($3.90), which is the cheapest item on the menu. This Okinawan favourite comes with pan-fried spam, tamagoyaki, and tartar sauce, sandwiched by Japanese rice and seaweed.

Nothing on the menu is above $7 and prices are nett—even more reason to pop by for your onigiri fix.

At the moment, there are no seats at this takeaway-only kiosk, except for a small bench directly outside.

If you’re up for more food in the hood, check out our Fei Lou Fatt review for prawn mee, lok lok and more. There’s also Hello Arigato nearby if you’re craving thick sandos and cafe fare instead.
