Famous Osaka sushi chain Ganko is now in Singapore! Their latest opening in Dhoby Ghaut is their very first Southeast Asian outlet, following 99 eateries across Japan, followed by a handful in Hong Kong. The affordable menu offers single sushi from $3++, or platters that can feed a group. Sushi here is air-flown thrice a week from Japan too, so you can ensure you’re getting the freshest fare.
Located just across the Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station, the sleek eatery is all Japanese minimalism in decor, and has 40 seats available for spacious dining.

The folks behind new-age handroll bar Rappu have branched out to Mexican fusion bites at Mezcla. Tacos with Japanese-Mexican flavours are a mainstay on the menu here, with most items being priced under $15. There’s the Crab ($11.50++), for soft shell crab tempura and spiced mayo nestled in a handmade taco, as well as the Unagi ($9.50++), where unagi is dressed in a chipotle-spiced sauce for added smokiness.
Come after-hours and dine with friends to enjoy the neon-lit ambience for maximum vibes, and down some margaritas while you’re at it. Flavours include Kyoho Grape and Pink Guava, for just $13++ each.

If you’re a fan of Korio and Sando, then you’ll love 46 Mittsu. The new joint specialises in American deli-style sandwiches, alongside healthy rice bowls. Don’t miss the B.E.C ($12++), an all-day breakfast sandwich with thick-cut bacon cured in-house, as well as ultra-fluffy eggs to rival Eggslut.
Located a 12-minute walk away from Fort Canning MRT Station in The Herencia, 46 Mittsu is a bit of a hidden gem but well-worth the visit.

Big Big Fries debuted in Serangoon Gardens last year to great fanfare, thanks to their XXL fries and housemade mentaiko sauce. They have since opened a cafe in NEWest, levelling up their menu with don bowls, as well as desserts. Apart from their fries, try their Mentaiko Bomb ($7/$12), where popcorn chicken is literally doused in its namesake mayonnaise for extra-shiokness.
The cafe is located a short bus ride away from Clementi MRT Station, and stars bright yellow and white decor that is as striking as it is cosy.

You may know Whiskdom as one of the OG home-based bakers that caused quite a stir in Singapore, thanks to their perpetually sold-out bakes and long waiting lists. Now, with two physical outlets around Singapore, including their latest one along Havelock Road, you no longer have to fuss about having the fastest fingers to nab their goods during an online bake sale.
The kiosk is small and meant for takeaways, with a glass display case that proudly showcases all their popular bakes. Do yourself a favour and get a box of six, priced at $38, and go wild choosing between flavours of their Levain-style cookies and lava brownies.

Monki Cafe was formerly located in Holland Drive, and shuttered recently, only to reopen at The Star Vista. The cafe specialises in Taiwanese food typically priced under $10, so make sure to order classics like Taiwan Braised Pork Rice ($9) and Taiwan Oyster Mee Sua ($8.80). Also on the menu is bubble tea, as well as desserts, if you need a sweet treat to end your meal.
The cafe is slated to open in the second week of December, and will feature the same bright and homely interior of its Holland Village joint.

Danish bakery Leckerbaer has a new outlet now in Keong Saik, starring the same famed Småkagers, petite Danish flavoured cookies priced at $2.80, along with other delicate bakes. On the savoury front, expect open-faced sandwiches such as Smoked Salmon & Onsen Egg ($21.00++), with briny smoked salmon, a gooey runny egg, and shaved greens atop.
The beautiful bakes are equally matched by the Scandinavian interior that is very IG-worthy. Its central address at Keong Saik makes the café an easy meet-up spot for brunch with friends too!

Cafe-hoppers should keep Alice Boulangerie on their radar. This new Tanjong Pagar gem has visually appealing pastries and a Bali resort-inspired interior, great for satisfying both your stomach and your wanderlust.
Their popular bi-colour croissants, including the Pistachio Chocolate Croissant ($8.90), are flying off the shelves the minute they are baked, so be sure to head down early. If you can’t get your hands on the croissants, try the Pistachio Dacquoise ($9.60), which is also a crowd favourite.

Popular local pastry chain Tiong Bahru Bakery has launched a new branch on the first level of Scotts Square.
Go for their well-known viennoiseries, including the Croissant ($3.50++), which sees layer upon layer of pastry made with premium French butter. Other must-try savouries are the veggie-friendly Brie & Roasted Mushroom Croissant ($9.80++), and the meaty Pulled Pork Bun ($10.50++). Les Amis Group’s casual Italian offshoot LINO has now expanded to a new location, after its Binjai Park flagship. The café and restaurant is now in FORUM The Shopping Mall, just outside the buzzing hub of Orchard Road. Expect a menu lined with classic Italian items, to be enjoyed amongst a warm, wood-toned dining area.
Try the Smoked Salmon Trout ($22++) to start, with orange-pink slivers of house-smoked salmon topped with zingy yuzu mayonnaise and fresh herbs. We love a pink café, and the latest one to hit the scene is Man Tang Hong, nestled in the Bedok heartlands. The cosy café serves both hot and cold desserts, all prepared from scratch daily. Highlights include an unctuous Orh Nee ($6.80), served with coconut milk, gula melaka, and sweetened pumpkin paste, as well as a refreshing Snow Fungus with Manuka Honey ($5.80), great to cool off in the heat.
Apart from the striking decor, the desserts are also served in modern tableware, like wooden bowls, if you want to nab a shot for the ‘gram.

Head down to Bikini Bottom IRL with the upcoming Spongebob Cafe, opening in Bugis on 16 December. The themed café is run by the Kumoya team, who have also brought the likes of the Rilakkuma café and the Little Twin Stars café to Singapore.

Expect cute dishes crafted by a local bento artist, all starring Spongebob motifs, and exclusive merchandise you can shop in-house. One fun fact is that all the menu items here are going to be vegetarian-friendly, made with Impossible meat rather than actual, animal meat.

Beloved ramen chain Ippudo has refreshed their menu with a selection of new dishes, spotlighting seasonal Japanese flavours. One highlight is their Ikura Chahan Ochazuke Style ($13.95), a Japanese take on pao fan, with green tea broth poured over pearl rice, and topped with salmon, as well as umami ikura pearls.
Another fun bite to order is their Pizza Bun ($4.80), a fusion spin on their signature pork buns, now with mozzarella guaranteed to offer a cheese pull, and tangy tomato sauce.
Ippudo has 11 outlets islandwide, and you can get this new menu at all their restaurants. Do note that prices may differ.
