If you’re a fan of premium beef, you’re in for a treat. Nikuya Tanaka, ranked as Japan’s best steakhouse in 2024 and 2025, and No. 27 in the world by the World’s Best Steak Restaurants, is coming to Singapore in September 2025. Known for its high-quality Wagyu cuts, this is the first time the popular restaurant is expanding beyond Japan!

The Tokyo-famous restaurant is headed by Chef Satoru Tanaka, affectionately known as “Boss”, a third-generation meat specialist with over 30 years of culinary experience. Renowned for his expertise in preparing premium cuts of Wagyu, Chef Tanaka often uses minimalist techniques to showcase the meat’s natural qualities.

Nikyuya Tanaka focuses on Wagyu-centric kappo dining, where diners are seated at a small counter around the kitchen and can interact directly with the chef. The experience is said to be similar to an omakase, but more intimate and interactive.

While there’s no information on what we can expect at the new outlet, it’ll likely include some of the finest Wagyu beef available, all sourced directly from Japan: think A5 Wagyu, sirloin, ribeye and more. Over at the OG Ginza location, signatures include Wagyu Tartare and Charcoal-Grilled Sirloin, cooked over binchotan for a refined, smoky finish.

The new restaurant will be located in the CBD along Teck Lim Road, a four-minute walk from Maxwell MRT Station.
