Strike up a conversation with locals and tourists about Singaporean fare; one of the most common mentions you’ll get is chilli crab. And when I think of chilli crab, the big name that comes to mind is JUMBO Seafood, an award-winning chilli crab restaurant with six outlets across our country. If you love chilli crab as much as I do, here’s a piece of good news for you: NISSIN has collaborated with JUMBO Seafood to birth a new NISSIN JUMBO Seafood Bowl Chilli Crab Flavour.
Unlike the NISSIN Cup Noodles Chilli Crab which comes with a thick, creamy broth, the NISSIN JUMBO Seafood Bowl Chilli Crab Flavour is meant to be eaten dry. Each bowl is priced at $3.01+.
It was easy to tell how thoughtfully designed their new bowl was as the prepping was quick and fuss-free. First, you want to lift the lid halfway, and then remove the three sachets inside. Next, add the garnish to the bowl—you’ll be greeted with a colourful mix of crabstick, leek, and scrambled egg!
It’s time to get the noodles cooking. Pour boiling water to the inner line, and close to the lid. Wait for five minutes for the noodles to be done. Here’s a pro tip: keep the seasoning paste sachet nice and warm by placing it on top of the lid.
Once the timer rings, peel off the lid at the water outlet area.
Then, drain the water from the bowl with two hands. Thanks to NISSIN’s new drainage system for dry-type bowl noodles, the entire process was made easier, faster, and more convenient. But be careful as the water is piping hot—better safe than sorry!
Pull off the lid so that you can add the seasoning powder to the cooked noodles.Â
Give it a good mix, and add the warmed seasoning paste as the finale to your NISSIN JUMBO Seafood instant noodles.Â
Mix everything one last time, and serve.Â
I loved how springy and smooth the noodles were, and my colleagues chimed in with similar opinions. The chilli paste was tangy, punchy and slightly tomatoey, which I thought was incredibly yummy as you don’t really get the same level of spice in many instant noodles. Plus, you’ll be surprised by how much liao each bowl comes with—their crabstick and scrambled eggs are huge enough that picking them up with your chopsticks is no struggle. It’s also worth mentioning that the addition of crushed peanuts in the seasoning powder gave a nice textural contrast!
For an elevated experience, get JUMBO Seafood’s Award-Winning Chilli Crab to accompany the noodles. This famous dish needs little introduction—a bite of the firm and meaty crab meat doused in a creamy, piquant sauce was the perfect pairing with NISSIN JUMBO Seafood Bowl Chilli Crab Flavour! You can opt for online delivery to enjoy the Award-Winning Chilli Crab. Do note that prices depend on the weight and availability of the crab you order.Â
The noodles are available at all major supermarkets, convenience stores, and e-commerce platforms, at $3.01+ a bowl.
