The Viral Nongshim X Jay Fai Instant Noodles Are Now Available In Singapore

Nongshim X Jay Fai Shin Ramyun collaboration is now sold in Thai Supermarket

Run—but not just yet—to the Thai Supermarket at Aperia Mall in the new year, because they’re restocking the viral Nongshim x Jay Fai Shin Ramyun in two weeks! First released on 23 November in 7-Eleven stores across Thailand, these noodles were quickly wiped out there. They hit the shelves here in Singapore at the Thai Supermarket last month, but were sold out within an hour.

Great news: they’re back in stock! Each packet is sold at $4.80; otherwise bags of five are also available at $19.90.

There’s little need to introduce Shin Ramyun, so if you’ve never heard of Jay Fai, here’s the lowdown: the Michelin-starred eatery is helmed by goggle-wearing Supinya Junsuta, AKA Jay Fai, who’s famed for her thicc AF crab omelettes. She won her Michelin star in 2017, and has even appeared on Netflix’s Street Food series. Visit Jay Fai in Bangkok today, and you can expect an hours-long wait just to enjoy her fare—BlackPink star Lisa herself dined there several days ago, so you can be sure the lines are going to get even longer now; Jay Fai also gifted her with a box of the instant noodles!

Jay Fai may be famous for her crab omelette, but this Nongshim collaboration combines their legendary Shin Ramyun flavour with an equally iconic Thai flavour: tom yum. These noodles come in both Stir-Fried and Tom Yum Soup versions.

On to the noodles—both come with three sachets of Jayfai tom yum paste, Shin Ramyun seasoning powder, and dry ingredients that you’re meant to cook with the noodles.

While the Tom Yum Soup ingredient sachet comes with sliced mushrooms, dehydrated carrot and meat pieces, it’s the Stir-Fried ingredients that are extra cute. Rather than your run-of-the-mill dry fishcake slices, these have been made in the likeness of Shin Ramyun’s signature 辛 (shin) logo.

You’re meant to leave about four tablespoons of liquid with your noodles before you add in the seasoning packets and toss to combine.

It’s not for the faint of heart, because this tom yum-spicy beef combo packs a real spicy punch.

Then, you have the soupy Tom Yum Soup iteration, where you’re instructed to add the tom yum paste only at the end.

This is much less spicy, but don’t be fooled by the small amount of tom yum paste, because it still smells and tastes unmistakably like the tangy-spicy Thai soup, though with the more robust, bolder notes of Shin Ramyun.

Thai Supermarket will be updating their Instagram page when their restocks are in, so turn on those post notifications! When you’re there to pick up your noods, you might also want to check out Good Gai, their new Thai fried chicken kiosk. Otherwise, we tried 12 Korean instant ramyeon to find out which is the best!
