Ohayo Mama San Has Award-Winning Japanese Curry Rice At 313 Somerset For A Limited Time Only

Ohayo Mama San has famous Maji Curry rice in Somerset

Since its opening a year ago, Ohayo Mama San, a Japanese fusion restaurant at 313@somerset, has dazzled diners with its vibrant interiors and exquisite high tea sets. Now, the restaurant is adding more strings to its bow with the launch of its curry rice dishes, available for a limited time only.

These new dishes are produced in collaboration with Maji Curry, a two-time champion of the largest curry rice competition in Japan, Tokyo Curry Prix, so you can expect them to have the excellent flavours the brand is known for.

The most basic rendition is the Omu Curry Rice ($14++), which features fluffy short grain rice that’s blanketed with smooth omelette eggs and tasty curry sauce. But as great as this combination is, it is surely better with meat, such as the crispy pork katsu found in the Tonkatsu Omu Curry Rice ($18++).

If you prefer chicken to pork, there are two options for you to choose from. The first is the Tori Katsu Omu Curry Rice ($18++), which is essentially the chicken version of the Tonkatsu Omu Curry Rice. It still has the same crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside texture, but with the more delicate characteristic of chicken.

And then there’s the Tori Omu Curry Rice ($16++). It features a succulent pan-fried chicken cutlet that’s surprisingly complementary with the sweet and mild curry.

Lastly, there’s the Hamburg Omu Curry Rice ($20++), featuring a pork and beef hamburger patty. The patty in question is seasoned lightly to bring out the natural meaty flavours, and then grilled such that it is both smoky and juicy.

You can add an additional $4++ for a cup of Mozzarella Cheese Fondue. Pour this into your plate of curry rice to level up the richness of the dish.

Of course, you can still visit Ohayo Mama San for their high tea sets and exotic cocktails. For a thorough look into the restaurant’s offerings, read our Ohayo Mama San review. If you’re looking for more eats at 313@somerset, though, read our 313 Somerset food guide.
