Famous Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun To Open In Bedok This April

Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun Bedok

HK-style chee cheong fun is all the rage in Singapore these days, with a number of prominent ex-restaurant chefs selling these steamed rice rolls out of hawker stalls. Before the bandwagon arrived, however, there was Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun, which has been selling cheong fan rolls out of their Pek Kio Market stall for 13 years. Recently, in an interview with Eatbook.sg, the brand revealed that they are in the midst of opening a second stall in Bedok North, come April.

The stall owners are still in the midst of confirming their license for their new outlet, situated at the 216 Bedok North Food Centre. Plans are underway for a mid-April opening, but we’ll update this article with more information once that has been confirmed.

For Easties who have never had the chance to try Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun, this is your chance.

Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun is a family-run, multi-generation hawker stall, with a legacy that goes back to the 1950s. Their ancestors were hawkers way back when pushcart stalls still existed, selling chwee kueh.

The family then relocated to working out of a brick-and-mortar stall, though they were still making chwee kueh, until quality control became a challenge. They then switched over to chee cheong fun 13 years ago, and have been making the delicacy ever since.

At Pin Wei, you can get four different rice roll flavours. All are made-to-order, and garnished with house-roasted sesame seeds for extra aroma. The bestseller here is the Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun ($3.50), but seafood lovers ought to also order the scallop ($5.50) option, with real Hokkaido scallops used as filling.

As you look forward to Pin Wei’s opening in Bedok, satiate your cravings at these chee cheong fun stalls in Singapore. Otherwise, check out our Bedok 85 food guide for more food options in the area.
