10 Pink Foods That Explain Why Everything Is Prettier In Pink

Pink foods that are almost too pretty to be eaten

I’ve never been that girl who has to take a picture of everything she eats before digging in, but it’s hard to resist the urge to ‘gram a dish when it looks gorgeous. While hunting down all sorts of colourful nosh has become my full-time job and hobby, I found a particular hue to obsess over: pink. From burgers to waffles, here are ten pink dishes for you and your Mean Girls/Scream Queens-loving squad to go gaga over.

1. Pink noodles

Source

If you’re up for a little adventure, give Kyoaji Japanese Dining’s Hiyashi Gyomen ($13++) a whirl. Made of fish, these noodles are meant to be eaten like soba, and have a chewy, springy texture. Plus, there isn’t a fishy aftertaste either!

Address: 176 Orchard Road, #04-17/18, The Centrepoint, Singapore 238843
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 11:30am to 3pm, 5:30pm to 10:30pm, Sat-Sun 11:30am to 10:30pm
Tel: 6694 4068

2. Pink soy latte

Source

Everyone’s familiar with salted caramel or matcha latte, but beetroot latte is not something that can be found everywhere. Afterglow’s Pink Soy Latte ($6++) is a blend of beetroot, soy milk and ginger that only goes two ways: hate it or love it. The earthy taste of beetroot is well present in the drink, balanced out by the creamy sweetness of milk and creeping heat from the ginger.

Address: 24 Keong Saik Road, Singapore 089131
Opening hours: Mon-Tue, Fri-Sat 12pm to 2:30pm, 5:30 to 10:30pm, Wed-Thur 5:30pm to 10:30pm

3. Sakura latte

If you’re one of those who flock to Japan yearly to catch the glorious cherry blossom season, know that you can now have sakura here, anytime of the year, infused in milk. Hoshino Coffee offers a hot Sakura Latte ($9++) and a rendition that’s iced with softee for $0.30 more. Sweet and fragrant, this pretty drink goes easy on the palate and the eyes.

Address: 13 Stamford Road, #B2-55, Capitol Piazza, Singapore 178905
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 11:30am to 10.30pm, Sat-Sun 10:30am to 10:30pm

4. Pink risotto

Epiphyte doesn’t just excel in their sweet section. Pink Risotto ($22+) has roasted beetroot to give a smoky finish, and the rice is cooked just right, so you get each bite with a little chew. The accompanying scallops are plump and juicy, and the portion’s good for two, so you know you’re getting your cash worth!

Address: 47 Neil Road, Singapore 088827
Opening hours: Mon-Thur 4pm to 12am, Fri 4pm to 1am, Sat 11am to 1am
Tel: 9451 8873

5. Aburi mentaiko spaghetti

Source

When Strangers Reunion reopened and started offering Aburi Mentaiko Spaghetti ($21.90++), I was sold. Every strand of this soft salmon pink dish is evenly coated with creamy mentaiko, and there’s a slight kick of spice so the dish doesn’t get too jelak. Plus, we’re not complaining about that spoonful of ikura on top.

Address: 33-35 Kampong Bahru Road, Singapore 169356
Opening hours: Mon, Wed-Thur, Sun 9am to 10pm, Fri-Sat 9am to 12am
Tel: 6222 4869

6. Pink waffle

Source

Waffle Ispahan ($15.90) at Les Patisseries is a glorious sight to behold. Atop the rose waffle is rose and lychee sorbet, raspberry sorbet, fresh fruits and a macaron. You’ll be rewarded with a affirmative crunch that gives way to a fluffy interior on first bite, and the sorbets do a great job of balancing the different flavours.

Address: 222 Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574354
Opening hours: Mon-Thur 11am to 12am, Fri 11am to 2am, Sat 9am to 2am, Sun 9am to 12am
Tel: 9744 0504

7. Pink pasta

Source

At PocoLoco, beetroot is used to colour their Barbabietola Rossa ($9), but not enough to influence an earthy taste on the pasta. So all you beetroot haters can still order this for a gorgeous pop of colour without the taste of beetroot! This pasta tastes similar to aglio olio, but lighter on garlic and chilli, making it a lot less potent.

Address: 408 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, #01-779, Singapore 560408
Opening hours: Daily 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 10pm
Tel: 8436 3363
Menu

8. Pink cheesecake

Source

You can’t judge Paddy Hills’ Pink Cheesecake ($16++) by its cover. Under the foamy layer, you’ll find a buttery, crumbly crust melded with velvety cheesecake filling studded with bursts of citrus and pomegranate. It’s a must-try once in your life!

Address: 38 South Buona Vista Road, Singapore 118164
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 10:30am to 5pm, 6pm to 9pm, Sat-Sun 9am to 5pm, 6pm to 9:30pm
Tel: 6479 0800

9. Cold pink coffee

Source

TAC Coffee’s Cold Pink Coffee ($6.50) is a blend of Indian Malabar, Sumatra Mandheling and Columbian Hulia. This mix results in a light and refreshing drink for a hot day, but we’re more attracted by the colour than anything else. There’s a stronger version in baby blue too!

Address: 118 Holland Avenue, #01-06, Singapore 278997
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 10am to 10pm, Sat-Sun 9am to 10pm
Tel: 6262 3616

10. Pink burger

Source

Coastal Rhythm’s Coastal Bun ($26++) is mixed with beetroot to achieve this hue, and has a nice thick slab of Angus beef patty and strips of crisp bacon. Sauteed mushrooms and melted cheese add juice and ooze, and the french fries on the side make a perfect accompaniment to the dish.

Address: 1206A East Coast Parkway, Singapore 449891
Opening hours: Mon-Thur 10am to 11pm, Fri 10am to 1am, Sat 9am to 1am, Sun 9am to 11pm
Tel: 6636 3705
