Press Butter Sand: Popular Tokyo Cookie Sandwiches Now In Takashimaya

Press Butter Sand comes to Singapore

The Takashimaya Food Hall is already chock full of great eats from Japan, but it’s about to get better with Press Butter Sand’s arrival. Today, the famous Tokyo Station sandwich cookie brand has launched in Singapore for the very first time, setting up shop in Ngee Ann City’s basement.

For the uninitiated, Press Butter Sand is a sandwich cookie brand that’s a popular omiyage snack to bring back from Japan. They comprise two square biscuits that are baked with iron griddles, both of which sandwich Hokkaido buttercream and other fillings.

Boxes of five start from $22.50 here, and the cookies are available only in three flavours: Original, Uji Matcha, and Chocolate. All of the cookies are made in Japan.

The Original features a buttery cookie and a fluffy Hokkaido cream filling layered with gooey caramel. Though the cookie is dense, it is crunchy enough that it crumbles under light pressure. The filling is buttery and addictive yet not overly sweet, making this a snack that can be enjoyed by all ages.

The Uji Matcha sees the Hokkaido buttercream laced with matcha butter cream and butter caramel. The slightly bitter and grassy flavour of matcha balances out the sweetness of caramel, and once again the wonderful texture of the cookie makes this a joy to eat.

Meanwhile, the Chocolate version pairs a bittersweet cocoa biscuit with a chocolatey caramel, and the Hokkaido buttercream.

The first 500 customers to show up at the opening and spend over $60 will stand to get three free Christmas cookies in exclusive flavours, so that’s all the more incentive for you to swing by Press Butter Sand Singapore and visit them.
