We’ve heard of seafood buckets in Singapore, but seafood served on a “sampan” is pretty uncommon. Enter Sampanman, a hidden gem restaurant at Jewel Changi Airport that offers that and more.
They’re popular for their assorted sampan, which refers to the boat-like platter in which their seafood is presented.
The biggest platter is the XXL Fisherman Sampan ($238++), big enough to feed five to six people. It comes with 500g Boston lobster, 1.6kg Sri Lankan crab, 500g prawns, 500 clams, 500g mussels, six scallops, six mantou buns, and macaroni. You also get to choose from three sauces: Chilli Crab, Salted Egg, and Black Pepper Crab. The former is said to be a favourite for its spicy kick.

If you’re dining in a smaller group, there’s a smaller Shellfish Sampan ($88++) for two diners. Alternatively, go for the Lobster Sampan ($128++) or XL Fisherman Sampan ($148++) for tables of three to four.
The seafood here is said to be fresh and of high quality—no wonder the halal restaurant has an impressive 4.7-star rating on Google with close to 800 reviews at the point of writing.
Besides seafood platters, the restaurant also offers zi char-style dishes that are great for sharing. These include skewers, fried rice, and crab bee hoon. Sets are available too!
Sampanman sits on Basement 1 of Jewel Changi Airport. Some of their tables are right next to the Rain Vortex, so if you’re here for the vibes, make sure you put in a request for those seats!
