Finish This XXL Indomie Plate In 8 Min For A Free Meal

Samrang SG has XXXL Indomie in Bugis

This time last year, XXL foods were all the craze: Keong Saik Bakery had an XXL kouign amann while Alice Boulangerie launched their viral XXXL croissants. It’s been a while since we’ve heard of upsized foods until we chanced upon Samrang SG, an eatery in Bugis serving up huge portions of Indomie.

Here’s the deal: finish the entire plate in eight minutes on your own and enjoy the meal for free, or pay $12+ if you fail the challenge. We were curious about the number of Indomie packets used to create this XXXL plate, but unfortunately, the staff had to keep it a secret. Our guess is that it’s definitely more than 10 but under 20—probably between 12 and 15 packets.

For those who were wondering, my colleague failed the challenge. Despite having a huge appetite, he barely scratched the surface, and we didn’t even see the bottom of the plate. If you’re attempting this challenge, we wish you the best, but if the odds aren’t in your favour, opt for takeaway and share it with your friends instead! It’s more than enough to feed at least five people.

The Indomie challenge is not all there is to Samrang SG! The eatery specialises in Indonesian fare, and the menu sees an extensive range of sides, mains, and combo sets.

If you don’t know what to get, start with their Bakso Sambal Kecap ($10.90+): Indonesian beef balls served with house-made soy sambal, best enjoyed steamed or fried depending on your preference. As for mains, give their Samrang Ayam Penyet (from $11.90+) a try for a winning combination of deep-fried chicken leg, fried tofu, vegetable salad, and rice.

For easy access, Samrang SG is a quick six-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station.
