Shabu Shabu Gyu Jin Has A $15.90++ Lunchtime Buffet With US Sirloin In CBD

Shabu Shabu Gyu Jin has an affordable Japanese hotpot buffet

It’s rare to find a buffet at a Japanese restaurant priced under $20, what more a restaurant in the CBD. This is what makes Shabu Shabu Gyu Jin’s Lunchtime Buffet such a rare gem—the Tanjong Pagar restaurant has a super value-for-money, all-you-can-eat lunch spread priced at just $15.90++. This is available only on weekdays, between 11am to 3pm.

Dining times are capped at 60 minutes. You get to pick your soup base of choice, and 130g servings of US Sirloin, as well as vegetables, Japanese beancurd, and other classic hotpot ingredients, such as sausages, fishballs, prawn balls and such.

You also get your pick of rice and a variety of different noodles, from instant noodles to udon, to pair with your hotpot.

Expect lighter-style soup as customary for shabu shabu, and choose from six different options, including Tomato Dashi, Yuzu Dashi, and Ginger Chicken Dashi.

Finally, DIY your own dipping sauces to dip your meats and cooked veg in. Definitely try their signature yuzu sauce, which is perfumed with notes of the Japanese citrus.

While $15.90++ is the cheapest option, you can also enjoy buffets for USA Beef Chuck Roll ($19.90++), Hokkaido Silky Pork ($21.90++), Australian Wagyu Chuck ($34.90++), and Japanese A5 Wagyu ($49.90++).

If you can’t make it for this lunchtime buffet, then swing by Shabu Shabu Gyu Jin the next time you’re looking for a spot to have a shabu shabu or sukiyaki buffet. Available during their dinner hours, they have a few different sets, starting from $33++ for their Light Course, which comes with US short ribs, pork belly, pork loin, and chicken, to $88++ for their Gyujin Course, which is served with free-flow Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef Chuck Roll.
