This year’s Singapore Food Festival is right around the corner, with a bevy of food-gasmic events lined up from 27 August to 12 September. If you haven’t already signed up, and are not sure where to start looking, here’s a quick guide to 10 Singapore Food Festival events you can’t miss!


1. Learn about the royal history of Kampong Gelam

If you’ve never been to Kampong Gelam, take this opportunity to learn about the original settlers of our little island, the Malay heritage, and ethnic Malay food, while walking through what was once the royal palace grounds. Discover the history of the Malay community with a professional guide, and finish the tour with lunch at Hajah Maimunah Restaurant, a Michelin-recognised establishment known for traditional, kampung-style cuisine. You’ll also get to take home a set of desserts from the local cake shop Edith Patisserie!

2. Tour Singapore’s oldest coffee roastery

We’ve all grown up with the familiar aroma of kopi, and are well versed in the ordering of its many, varied permutations. This Singapore Food Festival, discover how your cup of kopi is made with this tour of the Kim Guan Guan factory. The traditional coffee roaster has been in business since 1988, and today supplies coffee and tea to more than 1,000 shops in Singapore. 3. Take a durian tour with a trishaw uncle

5. Check out Singapore Vegan Fest

The Singapore Vegan Fest is back for its third year, this time spread over 10 days from 27 August to 5 September. The planned activities for this year’s Vegan Fest span in-person events such as a physical marketplace at Swissotel the Stamford, masterclasses and demonstrations which will also be available virtually, exclusive dining events at partner restaurants, food tours by VegThisCity, and talks by local and international speakers.

6. Learn all about spices on a Little India heritage tour

The Museum of Ice Cream is one of this year’s most highly anticipated openings, promising 14 different multi-sensory installations dedicated to ice cream.
