For those who frequent Johor Bahru (JB), here’s some good news: SKS City Mall JBCC has opened, featuring 32 F&B tenants! The new mall is located a convenient five to 15-minute drive from the JB customs (depending on traffic conditions), with direct access to the new Sheraton Johor Bahru.
The current exchange rate is RM1 = ~S$0.32 as of 5 May 2026.
If you’re visiting, be sure to check out All About Chew‘s soft cookies. The IG-famous shop, which has outlets across Malaysia, is known for their freshly baked cookies that are thicc and tasty. Prices start at RM15.50 for their signature Big Ass Softy (B.A.S), starring dark chocolate and chopped walnuts in a plain cookie base. They also have a red velvet flavour at RM17.50, stuffed with a rich cream cheese filling.
Cafe girlies can head to Palates & Bagels, a popular brunch spot that offers fresh bagels. When we previously visited the cafe, we enjoyed the Lily (RM16.90++), a petite cranberry bagel generously filled with rose- and lemon-infused cream cheese. Those who prefer savoury flavours can try the Dvesh (RM27.90++), which features curry mayo and fried chicken, and Ah Seng (RM31.90++): prawn patty, egg, caramelised onions, and sliced cheddar.
Alternatively, for something more local, head to Pacific Kopi, a popular Nanyang cafe with Mushroom Chicken Mala Pan Mee (RM13.90), Pandan Custard White Bread (RM4.50++) and more!
For something more decadent, check out Kay’s Steak & Lobster. This restaurant is known for exactly those two dishes alluded to in the name, and you can get them both with the Surf & Turf (from RM320++) combo. But if you’re just looking for a nice steak, there’s the Tenderloin (RM150++).
Speaking of seafood, check out Crab Bro, known for Shanghai-style crab roe noodles and other crab-related dishes. The Crab Roe Tossed Noodles (RM138++) is certainly pricey, but if you’re a fan of the crustacean, then it might just be worth the splurge.
Before you leave, be sure to dabao some Chinese pastries from Ming Ang Confectionery. We recommend their old-school Tausa Peah (RM1.30), though their Golden Milk Pastry, which comes in flavours such as Mung Bean (RM4.90) and Red Bean (RM4.90), are equally popular.
Other noteworthy beverage options at SKS City Mall include Beutea bubble tea and ZUS Coffee.
