If you’ve been to Taiwan, you may have come across Xiao Hun Mian AKA Spicy Noodle, a popular Taiwanese chain that sports two-hour-long queues for their spicy beef noodles. Good news: the famous brand, which has 18 outlets across Taiwan, is opening its first outlet in Singapore soon!
Originally from Taichung, Taiwan, Spicy Noodle is best known for their handmade noodles tossed in a secret Master Chilli Oil, which has been branded by regulars as “the Hermès of chilli oil”. The brand, which has been around since 2017, is said to sell over 3 million bowls each year.
The oil goes through a five-step process that includes hand stir-frying, simmering, and eight hours of manual stirring. You get a layered flavour profile that ranges from seared beef tallow and cumin to Sichuan peppercorn.
Their new outpost will be located at Raffles City. All the essential components, including the noodles and chilli oil, will be imported directly from Taiwan.
Prices start from $18.80 per portion for the Spicy Mixed Meat and Vegetables + Xiao Hun Noodles.
You can also look forward to their famous soup noodle dishes, made by simmering beef bones for over six hours. Must-tries include the Spicy Beef Soup (with Beef Tendon + Sliced US Beef + Braised Tofu Pouch + Soft Boiled Eggs)+ Xiao Hun Noodles ($24.80), and the Mild Beef Soup with Sliced US Beef and Soft Boiled Egg ($20.80), perfect for those who can’t take spice.
There are sides too, with the likes of Fried Bread Sticks ($4.50) for dipping into your soup, and Spicy Golden Fish Balls ($4) flown in from Taiwan.
