Sweet Rex Opens At Maxwell Food Centre, Get Souffle Pancakes And More

Sweet Rex has souffle pancakes at Maxwell Food Centre

If your friends shame you for not knowing good dessert places to visit in Singapore, here’s one for you to impress them with━the new Sweet Rex outlet at Maxwell Food Centre! Situated right outside Maxwell MRT Station, they are conveniently located in the CBD for a quick post-lunch dessert.

Be sure to try their famous Classic Souffle Pancakes ($9.80 for two), which come topped with maple syrup, salted butter and fresh ice cream. The pancakes are prepared upon order, then served soft and oh-so-fluffy━much like the famous ones at Flipper’s, but cheaper.

Apart from the original, the jiggly pancakes are also available in two other flavours. Get the Chocolate ($9.80) which comes with Oreo crumbs and chocolate syrup. Otherwise, the Caramel ($9.80) is a good pick too, which features Lotus biscuit crumbs and caramel syrup.

New to their Maxwell outlet is a series of Wazza, AKA Belgium waffle pizzas. We tried the Hawaiian Wazza ($10.90), which comes with ham, pineapple, and melted cheese atop a thick, crispy waffle. The Wazza comes in three other variants as well, including Margherita ($10.90), Pepperoni ($10.90), and Beef Satay ($12.90).

Sweet Rex is also popular for their cheesecake, most notably their Triple Layer Cheesecake ($6.90). It comes in four different flavours, baked in-house daily: Original, Matcha, Chocolate and Strawberry. We had the original, which came in distinct layers of fresh cream and sponge cake sandwiching a sweet middle layer of cream cheese.

If you prefer a lighter dessert, their Dark Chocolate Milk Pudding ($2.50) is a good option, which stars soft milk pudding topped with cocoa powder.

For a refreshing option, Sweet Rex offers their rendition of Hong Kong Milk Tea ($5), which is house-made in their own see-through can. We found the flavour of the milk tea well-balanced, with light notes of sweetness.

If you want another sweet treat after your pancakes, visit Birds of Paradise Gelato Boutique’s newest outlet at Craig Road! Otherwise, head to Hvala located nearby to enjoy their famed matcha menu.
