If you love Thai food, but you want more than just tom yum and pineapple fried rice, you need to check out Un-Yang-Kor-Dai on South Bridge Road. Previously awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2022, and the Michelin Plate in 2021, this popular restaurant serves up legit Isaan dishes from the North-Eastern region of Thailand.

Isaan cuisine primarily consists of grilled meats, Thai-style salads, and fermented sauces, cooked with a myriad of local herbs and veggies for some brightness. The simple yet flavourful dishes are often paired with sticky rice.

Their signature PenLaos Signature Grilled Chicken (from $15++) is a must-try. This unique Isaan dish is full of aroma, thanks to its three-day marination process, which features white peppercorn and coriander.

There’s also a popular Steamed Whole Sea Bass in Spicy Thai Lime Sauce ($35.90++) that’ll go well with your choice of carb—options include Isaan Spicy Grilled Pork Neck Fried Rice ($15.90++), Glutinous Brown Rice ($2++), and Jasmine Rice ($1.50++).

It’s not a complete feast without their Massaman Grilled Duck ($27.90++), a mildly spiced red curry loaded with sweet potato chunks, peanuts, and savoury duck slices.

End your meal on a sweet note with the refreshing Red Ruby in Coconut Milk ($8.50++) or Thai Milk Pudding ($6.80++), a smooth and creamy Thai milk tea-infused dessert. Otherwise, you also won’t go wrong with the Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($9.50++).

Do note that it might be hard to get a table during peak hours, so we recommend booking online before heading down. The restaurant is a two-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT Station. It’s also a short minute away by foot from dessert parlour DOPA on South Bridge, so you can there for desserts after your meal.
