Takashimaya Food Fiesta Has Chilli Crab Bao And BBT From Now Until 16 June 2019

Eat your way through Takashimaya Food Fiesta

If you’re planning to paint the town red this weekend and need to find a place to fuel up, then this massive Asian street food fare at Takashimaya is just for you.

Happening now until 16 June 2019, Takashimaya Food Fiesta presents an array of cuisines from around the continent, including Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese and Korean grub. Happening at Basement 2 of Takashimaya Square, this food festival boasts more than 50 stalls serving up scrummy delights.

In fact, there are even four bubble tea joints located side by side! Aside from Gong Cha and Singapore-owned Bober Tea, you can also get a preview of the delectable brown sugar boba milk by Taiwan’s Xing Fu Tang, which is slated to only open end of June at Century Square. This famous bubble tea store is said to rival Tiger Sugar, so you can expect a super long queue.

You can also look forward to both old-school favourites as well as popular brands such as Joo Chiat Kim Choo, D’Bun, Wolf Burger, Kazo Kazo, and Bao Makers.

We highly recommend the last two stalls. Kazo Kazo is best known for their Hokkaido Cream Danish Polo, while Bao Makers is best known for their heaty bao stuffed with yummy flavours including chilli crab, salmon mentaiko and salted egg chicken.

Based on Takashimaya’s Facebook page, other dishes to look forward to include omurice, Korean glass noodles, ginseng chicken, as well as ma la skewers.

The best thing about food festivals are the samples laid out for you to try. Hit up Mala Mala for the spiciest ma la chips in town. Our favourite is their Crazy Spicy Hand-Cut Mushrooms Chips, featuring shiitake mushrooms tossed in a mix of Sichuan peppercorns, chilli peppers, cumin, fennel and star anise. It’s an aromatic snack that will leave you in tears.

Aroma Truffle & Co. will also be there, so you can try out if their Black Summer Truffle Potato Chips are worth splurging on – or not.

The street food fiesta will be happening all the way until 16 June 2019, so you have three weekends to head down to try them all!
