Get Western Food Under $10 With Huge Portions At This New CBD Stall

Taste Fusion Hainanese Chicken Chop is a new stall in Maxwell

Maxwell is one of my favourite places to spend a chill weekend; there’s the delicious Danlao scrambled rice bowls, the newly opened oat milk gelato cafe Oat & About and many more must-try food places. Adding to this list is Taste Fusion Hainanese Chicken Chop, a new Western stall at Maxwell Food Centre selling more than 15 items at affordable prices and with huge portions.

A must-try is their signature Hainanese Chicken Chop Set ($8.80), best eaten with a Fried Egg ($1). The set comes with a huge, crispy chicken chop doused in house-made gravy, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, baked beans, and two pieces of mantou. For the price and generous portion size, you’re getting great bang for your buck.

There are also both rice and pasta options here, with the Savoury Pork Chop Rice ($6.80) being the cheapest option on the menu. Else, the Fish Fillet Spaghetti ($7.50) is a great meal for those who prefer pasta to rice.

If you don’t mind spending more, consider their Salmon Steak Set ($12.80), featuring pan-fried salmon paired with crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, baked beans, and two pieces of mantou. Other add-on options here include Chicken Wings ($1.80), Nuggets ($4 for six), and Arabiki Sausage ($1.80).

The most expensive item here is the NZ Ribeye Steak Set ($15.80), starring a thick, juicy beef steak with the same sides offered in every set.

Taste Fusion Hainanese Chicken Chop is located in Maxwell Food Centre, which is within walking distance of Maxwell MRT Station.

For more good eats in the area, read our Taste of Jiang Nan review, where we tried Din Tai Fung-style rice and xiao long bao. There’s also Lakeview (Upper Thomson) Kim Goreng Pisang for cheap fried nian gao, sweet potato balls and more.
