We at Eatbook stan a good bakery treat. Add yummy bakes, a good meal deal, and a serene, posh location right in the heart of Orchard Road, and it’s a 10/10 in our books. If those are boxes you’re looking to tick too, you’ll want to check out The Shop at Grand Hyatt Singapore.
To be honest, bakery doesn’t really encompass all that The Shop has to offer; rather, it’s more like a mini emporium, offering everything from fine wines to charcuterie and cheeses, artisanal olive oil, honey, and jams, to pastries, buns, cakes, and coffee.
Before we get into the fancy stuff, start with their $12 Daily Brew & Bake. There are two components to this: the bake and the brew. Get it to go, and your set is $12 nett.
First, pick your choice of hot coffee: Espresso ($8++), Americano ($9++), Cafe Latte ($11++), Cappuccino ($11++), or Mocha ($11++).
After that, you get to choose from a generous selection of bakes, ranging from the most basic Croissant ($6++) to the seasonal Nutella Cruffin ($7++), Shio Pan ($6++), or even a Lemon Curd Danish ($7++).
Some of these are seasonal, including the gluten-free Muffin ($6++), which comes in variants such as Chocolate Chip, Matcha, and Blueberry.
If you’d like to share with a friend, consider the Raisin Scone ($10++ for three). Do note that this set does not include any beverage.
Here, you get three scones with legit clotted cream and strawberry jam, alongside your cuppa joe.
On the savoury front, pair your coffee with sumfin savoury: the Quiche ($7++) or Solanki’s Butter Chicken Puff ($7++) are your options here.
For those with a sweet tooth, we highly recommend The Shop’s new Lychee Peach Oolong Cake ($11++), our favourite of the lot, with a centre of peach and lychee fruit, and a delicate oolong fragrance, on a tart base.
There’s also a Matcha Strawberry Cake ($13++), and their signature Black Forest Cake ($12++), which comes with a gentle punch of alcohol from the Kirsch-soaked cherry.
P.S. For a zesty treat, their Calamansi Tart ($12++) is made with limes harvested from the Grand Hyatt Singapore’s own rooftop garden!
If regular coffee isn’t your jam, consider one of their specialty drinks instead. The Fleur Grey Latte ($13++), made with espresso and French Earl Grey syrup, is best enjoyed with oat milk to complement the tea’s malty middle notes.
Alternatively, Lychee Cold Brew ($14++) is a novel take on your typical orange coffee, where cold brew coffee is layered with lychee juice for a real treat.
And if you’re a fan of Grand Hyatt Singapore’s restaurants, it’s here at The Shop where you can pick up your fav treats, including the famous Pete’s Tiramisu ($18++) from Pete’s Place, or the Pete’s Place Olive Oil ($28++), which you can pair with a loaf of Pete’s Focaccia ($8++).
Just five minutes away from Orchard MRT Station, The Shop is a cosy takeaway and dine-in space that offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. Taking centre stage is a whole solid slab table presided over by a tabletop tree.
Then, there are two smaller window benches for more intimate tea sessions, where you and your dining companion can watch the passers-by in the hotel lobby.
So, the next time you’re in town and seeking a break for your feet and soul, make a date with The Shop at Grand Hyatt Singapore━you won’t regret it.
