Get Ready-To-Eat Killiney Laksa, Beach Road Prawn Noodle And Other Local Classics At 7-Eleven

The Travelling Spoon has ready-to-eat hawker meals at 7-Eleven

When lunchtime rolls around, we’re often stuck pondering the eternal question: “Where should we eat?” Good news for all you hawker food fans—making that lunch decision just got a whole lot simpler, thanks to The Travelling Spoon. They’ve launched a lineup of ready-to-eat meals, featuring heritage favourites such as traditional laksa and chicken char siew.

Shoutout to The Travelling Spoon’s chefs, who have worked closely with famous hawkers to transform their signature dishes into ready-to-eat meals!

Prepared in ready-to-eat packages, these nourishing meals are available at 7-Eleven stores islandwide so you can get true-blue local dishes anytime, any day. They’re halal-certified too!

Our favourite was the Rumah Makan Minang Ayam Belado with Nasi Kuning ($6.50), comprising tender-baked chicken laid on a bed of fragrant nasi kuning, paired with fiery sambal belado.

If you love spicy food, you’ll enjoy the belado sauce, which packed a piquant punch. Impressively, the spiced chicken managed to retain its tenderness—a big plus in our books, considering that this is a ready-to-eat meal.

There’s no need to head down to Beach Road Prawn Noodle House at East Coast Road just to savour their yummy prawn noodles. Simply pop by your nearest 7-Eleven outlet for a halal version of their famed Beach Road Prawn Noodle House Prawn Noodle Soup ($6.50), consisting of a combination of yellow noodles and rice vermicelli.

This dish won us over with its flavourful broth, reminiscent of the prawn mee soup you can get at the stall itself. The sweet prawns offered an extra layer of crunch.

There’s also Killiney Traditional Laksa ($6.50), a vibrant dish starring rice vermicelli doused in an aromatic coconut milk-based broth, topped with shrimp, fishcake, and quail egg.

Each mouthful offered an amalgamation of textures, from the chewy tau pok and QQ fishcake slices, to the silky noodles and succulent pieces of shrimp. The laksa broth struck a good balance, delivering just the right amount of spice without overwhelming the palate.

Finally, there’s the My Kampung Chicken Char Siew with Fragrant Rice ($6), which sees glazed chicken thigh accompanied by chicken rice, quail eggs, and Asian greens.

To our delight, the char siew chicken was surprisingly juicy, and was complemented with an appetising sweet and savoury sauce. This harmonious pairing made for a truly satisfying meal overall.

Whether you’re looking for a late-night snack, or are just too busy for a sit-down lunch, these quick meals from The Travelling Spoon are sure to satiate your appetite and tastebuds. Grab them now at a 7-Eleven outlet near you, or find out more about The Travelling Spoon on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
