When True Breakfast first opened at Cuppage Plaza, they were met with much fanfare for their legit yet affordable dan bing, lu rou fan and more. The Taiwanese eatery has just opened a second outlet in Capitol Singapore, right next to City Hall MRT Station!

According to a recent post on the cafe’s Instagram page, their Cuppage Plaza location is currently closed for a month of renovations, from now till November 2022. With their new outlet opening, you don’t have to wait to get their hands on their signature Taiwanese dishes anymore.

Over at Capitol Singapore, fans can look forward to new menu additions, such as Mushroom Braised Pork Rice (price TBC) and Savoury Beancurd (price TBC). The latter is a classic breakfast dish that’s commonly seen in eateries in Taiwan; it features a bed of beancurd with you tiao, dried shrimp, soya sauce, and pickled veggies.

Old favourites will be available at this new cafe, too. Tuck into the familiar flavours of dan bing AKA Taiwanese omelette, priced from $4.80 for the basic rendition. This traditional breakfast item stars a thin and chewy crepe-like pancake enveloping savoury add-ons including egg. Other fillings such as meat floss and cheese are also available, should you want something more substantial.

We’ll update this story as we get more details on the full menu and prices.

Another newly opened spot worth checking out is 59 Hutong Yakiniku, a Taiwanese BBQ restaurant with high-quality cuts of meat, including Iberico pork and A5 Wagyu. Alternatively, read our Want Food Taiwanese Delights review if you’re craving more homely and affordable Taiwanese fare in Chinatown.
