Two Bake Boys Cafe: Popular Thai Tea Crepe Cake Cafe Reopens In Balestier

Two Bake Boys has crepe cakes and pastries at Shaw Plaza

Last year, we visited Two Bake Boys, a cafe that is widely popular on the ‘gram for their delicious crepe cakes and desserts. They have since closed their Bugis outlet, and can now be found at new flagship store in Shaw Plaza!

For those who aren’t familiar with Two Bake Boys, this cafe was founded by husband-and-wife duo Kitty and Phillip, who previously worked and met in the aviation industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they started a home-based business selling crepe cakes and pastries. The store is named after their two young sons, who played a part in preparing and perfecting their handmade crepe cake recipe during the business’ initial stages.

We caught up with Kitty during our latest visit to their Shaw Plaza outlet, and she was friendly and cheerful as ever. She shared that while this cafe is relatively new, they are still in the midst of expansion. In fact, they are opening a new kiosk in Clementi this month! In the meantime, you can expect a slew of eye-catching crepe cakes, savoury pastries and more at their new cafe in Balestier.

You must try at least one of their signature crepe cakes, all of which are handcrafted and prepared in-store daily. You can expect thicker-than-usual crepes, plus frosting on some of the flavours, which set their crepe cakes apart from other brands. Each crepe cake can take up to six hours to assemble, and more than a day to be chilled before it’s served—this is only testament to the hard work that goes into each cake.

Each of their crepe cakes comes with its own unique sauce, which is house-made as well. My favourite was their signature Thai Milk Tea Crepe Cake ($8.50), which features a liberal slathering of Thai milk tea-infused cream between each crepe slice.

You’ll also get a generous amount of Thai milk tea sauce to drizzle over the top—the perfect finishing touch to this sweet treat.

Fans can look forward to new flavours of their crepe cakes, including Lychee Rose Crepe Cake ($8.50), which is well-balanced with sweet lychee and floral notes. Don’t forget to drizzle the rose tea sauce too, which adds a smooth, light fragrance to the cake.

The latest addition to their menu is their Thai-inspired Crispy Crepe. We were really keen on trying their Tom Yum Chicken Floss ($7.80) crepe, however this new item was not available yet during our visit. We settled on their Nutella Banana ($6.80) crepe instead, which was light, crispy, and made for a decadent snack with its drizzle of sweet Nutella sauce and slices of banana within.

While Two Bake Boys no longer offer savoury mains in their new outlet, they do have savoury pastries such as Chicken Rendang Pie ($5.60), which is stuffed with potato, chicken, and carrot cooked in a rich rendang sauce.

Other sweet pastries to expect here include croissants, cream puffs, and muffins. If you’re spoiled for choice, we recommend starting with their Maple Pecan Plait ($5.20), which comprises a sweet maple syrup centre and is topped with roasted pecans.

Don’t forget to pair your cakes and pastries with their specialty drinks. If you’re looking to satisfy your caffeine fix, try their signature Orange Americano ($6), a refreshing iced Americano with zesty citrus notes. Otherwise, you can also go for their non-caffeinated drinks, such as Yuzu Osmanthus Matcha ($7.80) and Earl Grey Lavender ($7.80).
