The World Food Fair has been running for close to two decades now, and is one of the highlights on Singapore’s yearly food fest calendar. Renowned for their extensive variety of F&B products sourced from the world’s countries and cuisines, the World Food Fair is a must if you want to spend a day exploring unique eats and enjoy exclusive deals, as well as food-themed activities, lucky draws, and contests.
This year’s fair, which runs from 4 July to 7 July, marks the 19th edition of the World Food Fair. It takes place at EXPO Hall 4 from 11am to 9pm. There will be over 120 merchants—including 20 new vendors—exhibiting their wares, from countries such as China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan and beyond. Local vendors will also be at the World Food Fair, so do show them some love as well.
The fair has also made investments to improve your experience with an all-new exhaust system that reduces smoke and the smell of food in the space.
If you’d like to know more about what you can expect from the fair, here are some highlights to look forward to.
First things first: when doors open, the first 250 customers get a goodie bag, which contains products, gift coupons, and vouchers from the vendors—all the more incentive for you to come early.
Now, onto the food and drink stalls. Taiwanese food fans will be happy to hear that 8 Degrees Taiwanese Bistro (N17) will have a booth at the fair. Here, you’ll find all their fan favourite dishes, including their popular 8 Degrees Stewed Pork Belly Rice ($6), where sweet pearl grain rice is topped with tender stewed pork belly.
For those who need their caffeine fix, visit Lucky Saigon. The cafe is making their debut at the World Food Fair this year, bringing with them authentic Vietnamese iced coffee for $2.Â
The fair also has vendors selling coffees you can buy and take home, to make your morning kopi that much better. Cheerful Goat (D05) is one of them. The coffee brand is launching Pocket Coffee, their new specialty freeze-dried instant coffee at the fair. Made with 100% premium Arabica beans, this instant coffee is designed to dissolve ultra-quick in a variety of liquids, from water to milk. A box of these instant coffee pods is priced at $39.90 at the fair, a discount from its usual $45 price tag.Â
Lucky Saigon and Cheerful Goat are two of the 20 new merchants at the fair, so be sure to show them some love, and discover the rest of the latest brands as well.
Tea lovers, you’re in for a treat too. There will also be a Tea Expo, showcasing over 100 varieties of Chinese tea to explore, including the evergreen favourite, pu-er from Yunnan. Besides tea leaves, there will also be an exclusive showcase of white porcelain tea sets on-site to elevate your tea-drinking experience.
Homegrown bak kwa and snacks brand, Fragrance (D01) is also back at the World Food Fair if you’d like to enjoy bak kwa and more outside of Chinese New Year. They’re selling their popular Mini Bak Kwa for only $10, when a 500g bag will normally set you back $33!Â
Fragrance is also one of the brands participating in the fair’s WOW Deals. Held at 2pm daily, the WOW Deals are essentially fire sales for a limited time only. Fragrance, for example, will be selling their crowd favourite Salted Egg Fish Skin and Salted Egg Potato Chips at only $0.50 a bag, instead of the usual $7.60!Â
Patrons can choose one of the two flavours to purchase for $0.50. There are only 100 redemptions available per day.Â
Those trying to up their home cooking game can look forward to stalls selling ready-to-eat and frozen meals. Pin Si Kitchen (N27), for instance, will be selling their popular, juicy Salted Kampong Chicken, priced at $12.25 instead of $12.90 for a half portion. These come frozen, so you’ll need to reheat them at home.
Lazy cooks can mosey over to Savoury Market (A03), which sells nourishing soups that don’t require hours of boiling time. These come in sachets, and each has different nutritional benefits the brand touts, including improving your immunity, energy levels, and eyesight. Prices start at $18.50 per sachet.
Save those receipts as you shop , because when you spend at least $50 across three receipts, you qualify for a lucky draw. Winners are announced at 5pm daily, and you stand to win air tickets for two to Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, and Tokyo.
Aside from all the feasting and shopping, the World Food Fair also has stage activities running from 2pm to 7pm daily. These include games, food demos, and entertainment for patrons young and old.
