Get Cheap Cai Fan From $2.50 At This Long-Queue Bugis Stall

470 Economic Mixed Veg Rice has cheap cai fan in Bugis

Singaporeans really love cai fan—thank to its unbeatable combination of affordability and variety. If you’re always on the lookout for wallet-friendly, no-frills grub, then another spot to add to your list is 470 Economic Mixed Veg Rice at Bugis Cube.

You get two vegetables and one meat here for just $2.50. And what’s best is that this deal comes with a free drink, making it super value-for-money if you’re looking for a hearty meal that won’t burn a hole in your wallet.

For veggies, pick from the likes of stir-fried tau gay, fuzzy melon, bok choy, cabbage, eggplant in garlic sauce, bittergourd and more.

The fuzzy melon in particular is worth a shoutout, boasting a soft texture that soaks up the savoury sauce well.

FYI: When we reached slightly past noon, the eggplant and bittergourd dishes were completely wiped out—a testament to just how popular this spot is.

For those willing to spend a little more, you can opt for their stir-fried minced pork and long beans for an additional $0.50.

Proteins offered under the $2.50 deal include curry chicken and braised soy sauce chicken, with the former packing a solid kick of spice.

Though the portion of protein was a tad disappointing, with only about three pieces of chicken per serving, we found the meat in both dishes impressively tender and flavourful.

Similar to the veggies, you can top up a bit for other meat options, including sweet and sour pork, lap cheong, and salted egg chicken, among others.

Each $2.50 rice order comes with a refreshing cup of iced lemon water to help you wash down the grease.

470 Economic Mixed Veg Rice is located on the third level of Bugis Cube, which is just a short three-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station.

It’s a small eatery with only about 20 dine-in seats, and as dishes tend to sell out fast, we recommend coming early if you’re planning a visit!
