Min jiang kueh (MJK): soft, fluffy pancake packed with sweet-savoury fillings, and a great breakfast choice or midday pick-me-up snack. I love myself a good MJK, and recently, I chanced upon 555 Pancake at Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre when I was in the vicinity of Jurong East. What caught my attention was that a pancake here starts from just $0.90!
There are a total of seven flavours here, with prices ranging from $0.90 to $1.10. Some popular picks include Peanut ($0.90), Yam ($1.10), and Coconut ($1). If you’re getting the yam, expect a thick layer of sweet-earthy paste with a creamy and velvety mouthfeel.Â
What’s interesting here is that there are 2-in-1 flavour options to choose from. For example, their Chocolate + Peanut combination costs $1.10, or you can get Peanut Butter + Peanut at the same price for a winning combination of creamy and crunchy textures.
Besides the peanut, their Red Bean pancake also costs $0.90! Otherwise, consider getting the Green Tea ($1.10) or Black Sesame ($1.10).
555 Pancake is located at Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre, which is nearest to Jurong East MRT Station. It’s quite a bit of a walk, though, so we recommend taking a bus to get there without perspiring too much in the sweltering heat.Â
