Far East Plaza’s Greenview Cafe To Close In June, Will Reopen As AMK Hawker Stall

Greenview Cafe is closing at Far East Plaza

Sad news for regulars of Greenview Cafe: the popular Far East Plaza eatery will close its doors on 30 June 2026. This marks the end of its 43-year run at the Orchard mall, which saw it become one of the most reputable food spots in town, thanks to its excellent mee hoon kueh and other dishes. According to an 8days report, a key reason for this closure is the high rental cost, as well as the slowing businessthis is not unlike why many other eateries have recently closed.

But fret not, because this household name isn’t leaving us for good. It will transition to being a hawker stall in Ang Mo Kio from 1 May 2026. We recommend following their Instagram account for more updates regarding this move.

There’s still time to try Greenview Cafe’s fare at the original Far East Plaza outlet. So if you’d like to do so, you should definitely try their best-selling item, the Minced Pork Mee Hoon Kueh ($5.50), also known as M1. During our previous visit, we found that the mee hoon kueh was savoury with a tinge of sweetness and, of course, was remarkably chewy.

The eatery also has a great Fried Mee Hoon Kueh ($6), which adds a prominent wok hei flavour to these noodles. Others might not like the charred scent that the noodles had, but we thought that it enhanced the sweetness of the sauce.

Greenview Cafe has just about enough tables and stools to seat around 20 people. Nevertheless, it is a testament to its mass appeal that it’s been able to stick around since 1983. We look forward to its new incarnation as a hawker stall in Ang Mo Kio.
