Here’s a piece of good news for fans of the anime, Attack On Titan (AOT). Popular Japanese restaurant chain Aburi-En has just launched a limited-time only Attack On Titan-inspired menu! The menu is available at the restaurant’s 14 outlets, including Suntec City, JEM, VivoCity, Orchard Central, Jewel Changi, and Tampines 1.Â
The special menu was introduced to celebrate the launch of the feature-length movie, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, which was recently released in the cinemas. Fans can expect two donburi bowls, a dessert, and two drinks, inspired by iconic scenes, characters, and other elements from the series. The menu will only run from now till 28 February 2025, so AOT fans, hurry down ASAP!Â
Inspired by the iconic towering walls of Paradis Island following Zeke Yeager’s attack, the Special Don Wall Maria ($19) consists of grilled Iberico pork, made to represent the “walls”, as well as shimeji mushrooms and diced cucumbers atop short-grain rice. The restaurant’s signature Iberico pork is thinly sliced and carries a smoky, well-marinated flavour.Â
If you prefer chicken, go for the Special Don Survey Corps ($14). This special rice bowl draws inspiration from the Survey Corps, which consists of the series’ prominent characters such as Levi Ackerman and Eren Yeager, who fight for humanity’s existence.Â
Paying homage to the squad’s logo, “wings of freedom”, there are two types of chicken in this bowl: juicy deep-fried chicken nanban, and grilled sumibi chicken. The meats are paired with a yuzu kosho sauce, which adds a nice tinge of acidity to the dish.Â
Armin Arlet’s Blue Ocean Soda ($7) is said to be a symbol of hope and freedom, representing Armin’s lifelong dream to see the ocean. The refreshing, ocean-inspired drink consists of blue curacao, pineapple juice, and Sprite.
On the other hand, the Marley Red Virgin Sangria ($7.50)’s backstory is a bit more brutal. This refreshing beverage nods to the famous Marley wine Zeke Yeager spiked with his spinal fluid, to transform unknowing military personnel into Titans. Fret not, for this drink is spinal fluid-free—it is instead made with mixed berries, Sprite, and diced fruit.
Lastly, finish your meal with Mikasa’s Special ($7), which sees azuki beans, warabimochi, strawberry syrup, and vanilla ice cream. This dessert is inspired by the iconic red scarf Mikasa Ackerman adorns throughout the four seasons of the series, given by her romantic interest, Eren Yeager.Â
With every order of a dessert or drink from the menu, you can get a free collector’s card. You can also get a free collector’s acrylic stand or badge sporting the four main characters when you order a main dish. There are also themed t-shirts and tote bags for sale, while stocks last.Â
In other news, Mister Donut’s adorable Pikachu Doughnuts are back for a limited time only! For more anime-related eats, check out Kazutake Ramen, a Naruto-themed ramen spot in Serangoon Gardens that opens 24/7.
