Popular French patisserie and bistro, Antoinette, will be closing permanently by the end of this month. The locally owned chain will wind down its shutters at its flagship outlet at 30 Penhas Road on 30 June 2020.

Its other outlet at Millenia Walk has been closed since April, due to the mall closing temporarily.

The brainchild of chef-owner Pang Kok Keong, Antoinette is a huge hit with Singaporeans for its chic Parisian vibes and quality nosh. Chef Pang, a three-time Pastry Chef of the Year at the World Gourmet Summit, is always refreshing the menu items based on season and trends.

One example is his variation of souffle pancakes. Combining Western techniques with local flavours, he came up with a unique ondeh-ondeh pancake that won the hearts of many with a glorious pandan custard and addictive gula Melaka syrup.

The cakes and pastries at Antoinette are also one of the best in the local scene, with plenty of exciting new flavours popping up all the time.

A memorable dish that I can remember at Antoinette was the NUDE cake. It took inspiration from the nude makeup trend, and was a sponge cake filled with a refreshing blend of tropical fruit mousse that was enclosed in coconut cream Chantilly and sea salt caramel parfait to give off a unique shade of nude. It was a cute and chic package that looked like it was straight out of Sephora.

However, the closing of Antoinette is not the last straw for Chef Pang. The jovial chef is looking to open up a Hakka noodle stall next. While there are no concrete plans yet, we’ll be updating this page when there’s more information!

While there are plenty more restaurants that are closing in 2020, take heart that there are also many that are opening. EWF has plans to reopen, while the exciting Menbaka Fire Ramen will also be arriving soon.
