This Giant Halal Food Bazaar At Tampines MRT Has XXL Salted Egg Squid, Nutella Apam Balik And More

Bazaar Lambak is a halal pasar malam at Tampines MRT

Coming in hot from the recent Geylang Serai and Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaars is Bazaar Lambak, a halal street food bazaar located at Tampines MRT Station, right next to Exit C.

It’s happening from 8 May to 6 June 2023, 10am to 10pm, so Easties will get a full month to check out the pasar malam! Besides a slew of food and beverage kiosks, there are other retail shops, as well as music performances that’ll take place every night.

Traditional apam balik gets an upgrade at ZR, which offers the fluffy, buttery pancakes in trendy flavours including Biscoff and Nutella. The Nutella Oreo Cheese ($7.50) is a must-try; this apam balik comes with a sprinkle of shredded cheese to balance out the sweet fillings.

There’s also the Corn Peanut Cheese ($7.50) if you’re up for something more old-school instead.

Seafood lovers should check out Wasuuka for their delicious XXL sotong, grilled or deep-fried and paired with your choice of powder.

Get the XXL Sotong King ($9.90) and request for it to be “non-cut” for the full visual effect! It’s larger than my face, so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth here, size-wise.

The squid is breaded and deep-fried to golden goodness, then showered with a generous coat of seasoning powder. We enjoyed the Salted Egg flavour, which lent a savoury, umami edge to the crunchy snack.

Okonomiyaki isn’t super common in most food markets, so we were excited to discover Golden Bee Tako at Bazaar Lambak.

We recommend the Lobster with Mentaiko Japanese Pancake ($6.80), which came with a heaping of creamy mentaiko, tobiko, and lobster bits on a sizeable portion of okonomiyaki.

Dried bonito flakes are added on top for extra flavour.

Don’t miss out on Quicky‘s sinful range of Goreng Pisang Cheese, too. These are priced at $6 for seven pieces and $8 for 10. The sweet banana pieces are coated in a light batter and thrown into the hot fryer. While hot, cheese is grated straight onto the banana chunks and toppings such as Salted Caramel, Milo, and Oreo are added to them.

If you’re in need of something refreshing to cool down from the heat, consider getting a drink from Mango Bossku, a popular stall featured in last year’s Tampines Bazaar and Turf Club Bazaar. Great for sharing, the one-litre Mango Lychee ($6) drink was a much-need respite during our afternoon shoot.

Bazaar Lambak has ample seats in the middle of the pasar malam space, but do visit earlier if you’d like to snag a table. There are portable air conditioners in this seating area too, which helps a little with the humidity.

While you’re in the area, head to one of these popular Tampines hawker food stalls to fill up on more delicious food! Otherwise, check out our Dapur Hassan review, where we tried mee rebus and nasi lemak by a famous local goalkeeper.
