Black charcoal waffles might look a little dubious but they sure taste good with ice-cream! Twenty Grammes offers their Charcoal Waffle ($8.50) plain with salted egg sauce. If you want something fancier, add a single scoop of ice-cream for $3.50 more. You can even mix things up by ordering a Yuan Yang Waffle with Soft Serve ($15) that comes with a delicious drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Charcoal Fish And Chips ($14+) at The Pipe District caught our attention with its black exterior that has charcoal added in to give it a slightly earthy taste. Served with either sweet potato fries or regular fries, the fried fish has a nice crunch due to its light batter. Those with picky taste buds can also make a choice between different types of fish here.

King crab and prawns sandwiched between Squid Ink Panini ($13++) sounds tantalising, but its looks might be a turnoff to some. This panini is a hearty and dense sandwich filled with juicy crab and prawn filling that could easily be a light and satisfying meal for two. Sink your teeth into this as your lounge al fresco at Dolcetto By Basilico.

Even though these Mini Black Charcoal Egg Custard Buns ($4.20++ for three buns) from Goodwood Park Hotel don’t contain flowy salted egg lava, they’re still equally shiok to eat. Available at both Min Jiang and Coffee Lounge within the hotel, these are an awesome treat for bao lovers. And don’t worry if you want to bring your prim and proper relatives here, ‘cause these buns don’t actually come with emoticons on top.

Drizzled with malt sugar, liquid marshmallows, salted caramel and topped with coconut ice-cream and toasted nuts, charcoal thick toast, or TAN ($14.90), served at Stateland Cafe certainly sounds good enough to whet our appetite. Baked twice to achieve a crispy texture, this is one toothsome toast to dig into.

Also from Stateland Cafe are black mochi balls that burst in your mouth. Now, before you judge how this dessert looks, know that it’s responsible for crowds that Stateland consistently attracts. Titled Mochi Burst With Softserve ($15), this plate comes with three fried mochi balls that contain lava cores of cookie butter, lemon curd and salted egg yolk. If this doesn’t tug at your tummy’s heartstrings, it’s hard to say what will.

Located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, DC Comic Super Heroes Cafe offers their signature Batman’s Dark Knight Burger ($25.90++) with black charcoal burger buns, wagyu beef patty, grilled portobello mushroom and a side of nacho chips. Made with black sesame, Blancmange ($8.50++) is Issho Izakaya’s black version of a panna cotta that looks aesthetically pleasing and tastes equally good. Served with black sesame ice-cream made in-house, the creamy and smooth panna cotta makes a great ending to your meal here.
