If you’re residing in the new Tampines North BTO estate, here’s an exciting piece of news: Chang Cheng Mee Wah, a popular coffeeshop chain, has officially opened in your hood. There’s a whopping total of 17 food stalls to check out, from the usual Western fare and roast meats to a legit Thai stall!
We’re most excited about Baan Kai Khon, a new concept by popular Thai pancake stall Baan Kanom Thai. Besides the brand’s famous pancakes and puddings, you can also look forward to a whole new lineup of Thai omelette rice, priced from $6.90 for the Creamy Omelette Thai Basil Rice with Minced Pork or Signature Creamy Omelette Fried Rice with Minced Pork.
Don’t miss out on their Kanom Krok AKA Thai pancakes, sold in three flavours: Pandan (from $5.50), Coconut (from $6), and Sweet Potato (from $6).
Another interesting addition to the coffeeshop is The Grace Bowl by Sarawak Delicacy. You can get their Kolo Mee ($5.80) in one of their three sauces: White, Red, or Soya. That’s not all: they also sell Sarawak Laksa ($6.60/$8.30). In case you’re unfamiliar, this rendition comes with a distinct tamarind flavour and is less creamy as there’s no coconut milk added.
For something lighter, head to Koo Kee Yong Tow Foo Mee for their Koo Kee Set Meal ($7.30): egg noodles with minced chicken, served with a side of blanched kang kong and a bowl of soup with five pieces of yong tau foo.
You’ll also find the usual roast meat offerings at Rong Kee Roasted Delights, with affordable options such as Char Siew Wonton Mee ($4.30) and Herbal Roasted Duck Noodle ($4.50).
