Chateraise Opens Unmanned 24/7 Store In NTU With Popular Cream Puffs And More

Chateraise opens unmanned store in Nanyang Technological University

It’s been nearly a year since the popular Japanese chain Chateraise opened their first unmanned store in Bukit Batok in March 2024. Recently, they announced the second store opening at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where you can find the same 24-hour self-checkout counter that offers a convenient grab-and-go service around the clock.

Entering the unmanned store is easy-peasy: download the ‘Chateraise SG Unmanned Store’ app and register your payment details. Then, scan your personalised QR code at the entrance. After snack shopping, pass through the checkout counter and leave! The system automatically registers purchases and charges directly to the payment method you key in.

When we visited Chateraise’s first unmanned store in 2024, we bought a bunch of snacks to try. Our bag comprised the crowd-favourite cream puffs, sweet-savoury warabimochi, chewy mochi cream cake and more.

Of the lot, we really enjoyed the Double Fantasy Yakiimo ($2), a palm-sized puff loaded with a thick layer of sweet potato cream and mildly sweet fresh cream. If sweet potato isn’t your thing, we recommend the Original ($2) that’s packed with custard, or Matcha ($2) instead.

We also had their Taiyaki Ice Cream in two different flavours: Vanilla ($2.50) and Matcha ($2.50). You can’t go wrong with the former, packed with creamy vanilla ice cream and sweet red bean paste within a soft, fish-shaped casing that’s somewhere between a cake and a waffle.

FYI, Chateraise’s unmanned store is located at North Spine Plaza on the campus and is open 24 hours all year round.
