The end of the year is also often dubbed the season for giving, not purely because of all the festive gifts that are due, but because it is also a time for us all to reflect with gratitude on what we have, and to give to those who don’t. If you’re thinking of ways to pay it forward, the popular restaurant Chatterbox gives you an easy avenue to.
In conjunction with SG Cares Giving Week and Chatterbox’s 51st anniversary, every plate of Mandarin Chicken Rice ($25) sold from 1 November to 7 December 2022 will see OUE Limited donate $5.10 to charities Willing Hearts and Food From The Heart, via Community Chest.
If you’ve yet to try Chatterbox’s famed Mandarin Chicken Rice, now’s your chance to do it for a good cause. The restaurant first opened in 1971, and is now housed in Hilton Orchard Singapore. They’re known for offering diners a more atas spin on Singapore’s beloved national dish, and counts celebrities such as Jay Chou as part of their clientele.Â
Each portion comes with ultra-tender steamed chicken, served alongside a bowl of jasmine rice perfumed with the usual medley of ginger, pandan leaves, and garlic. One also gets a rich broth to sip and a trio of sauces for dipping, including a zesty house-made chilli.Â
Do note that the pay-it-forward donation is only valid for dine-in.
The charities on the receiving end are both food-related. Willing Hearts is a wholly volunteer-run soup kitchen that serves over 9,000 hot meals daily to the needy to over 70 locations islandwide. Beneficiaries include the elderly, the disabled, low-income families, children from single parent families or otherwise poverty-stricken families, and migrant workers in Singapore. Food From The Heart, on the other hand, helps distribute food in a sustainable manner to reduce both food waste, and hunger.
