High tea in Singapore usually means scones, clotted cream, and a three-tier stand of Western pastries. Chilli Padi is giving the ritual a Peranakan makeover, with a new Peranakan High Tea spread of 14 handmade sweet and savoury creations. Available from 19 September 2026, the afternoon tea is priced at $58++ for two diners, making it just $29++ per person.
The new spread will be available at both Chilli Padi Nonya Restaurant in Joo Chiat and Chilli Padi Tok Panjang along Upper Bukit Timah Road, on weekends, 2pm to 5pm. It comes with a mix of Nonya savouries, traditional kueh, and a pot of tea.
Among the savoury creations is the Babi Pongteh Slider, a modern spin on the classic braised pork dish. The slow-cooked pork belly is simmered in a rich salted soy bean paste with spices, then tucked into a soft slider bun instead of the usual bowl of rice.
Other savoury picks include the Bibik’s Curry Chicken Tart, Petite Satay served with peanut sauce, Ruby Kueh Pai Ti, Petite Stir-Fried Mee Siam, and Mahkota Beef Rendang, all built off family recipes passed down through the generations.
On the sweeter end, the Petite Orh Nee Tart pairs silky yam paste with a delicate tart shell, finished with coconut flakes. The Pulut Tai Tai takes centre stage among the kueh selection, with glutinous rice steamed in blue pea flower and coconut, served alongside fragrant kaya.
Rounding out the kueh spread are the Orh Ku Kueh with Mung Bean Paste, Kueh Dadar, Nonya Baked Lapis, Kueh Koswee, and Kueh Salat. Capping things off is the Durian Sago Pudding, an indulgent finish to the afternoon.
Each set comes with a pot of tea, with a choice of Red Date Tamarind Tea, Da Hong Pao Tea, or Ice Lemongrass Pandan Tea.
