10 Food Near Clarke Quay MRT Including XXL Meat Platters, Matcha Tiramisu And More

Exciting food near Clarke Quay MRT

Friday lunches at Eatbook are always two-hour long. Thanks to this, we make the effort to travel a little further away from the usual food places at Boon Keng to buzzier places on the North-East MRT line. Our favourite #TGIF dining spots definitely include Clarke Quay Central and Riverside Point. Conveniently connected to Clarke Quay MRT station, these two malls are filled with great restaurants, bars, and cafes. The view of Singapore River is definitely a plus point too. Here are 10 joints to check out when you’re here!

1. LUMINE Café

Lumine Singapore is the first international outpost of the famous Japanese fashion mall. And if its 10,000 sq ft retail space isn’t reason enough to spend a whole day at Clarke Quay Central, the dainty LUMINE Café will seal the deal for you.

Their stylish interior forms the perfect OOTD backdrop, thanks to the elegant cursive writing decorating their pretty pink walls and rose-gold pendant lights hanging overhead.

Matching up to their stylish interior are the #aesthetic drinks, such as the tantalising Matcha Azuki Bean ($8) and Sparkling Peach Mango ($5.90). The latter is a refreshing and fruity drink that will def’ quench your thirst. Get on the ShopFarEast app to score 1-for-1 on their Sparkling Mango Peach from now until 4 August 2019.

Don’t worry if you’re dining on a budget, as Fu Zhu Chinese Restaurant has got you covered with their filling and affordable portions. Take their Xing Hua Lor Mee ($9.80), which pampers you with generous amounts of prawns, fish slices, and clams. The freshness of these ingredients shines in their broth, as every sip unfurls in an addictive rush of umami.

Similarly moreish is their Pumpkin Soup Green Pepper Beef La Mian ($8.80), which features al dente noodles and a piquant broth.

From now until 4 August 2019, come by after 5pm and enjoy 20% off your total bill.

3. Rendezvous Hock Lock Kee Restaurant

With more than 80 years of history and being the only nostalgic eatery in Clarke Quay Central, well-established restaurant Rendezvous Hock Lock Kee Restaurant sets the bar high with their mouth-watering Nasi Padang.

In a crowd of impressive dishes, their Chicken Curry ($8.90) stands out with its fall-off-the-bone tender meat and robust gravy. The curry excites the palate with sweet and coconutty accents, before finishing with a gentle burn on the tongue. For a spicier kick, order the Sambal Prawns ($6) instead.

Swing by after 5pm to get a Korma/Curry Chicken with Fish/Vegetable set at $13 instead of $17. The set meal comes a soft drink and free-flow rice too!

4. nomVnom Bistro

Even though I’m a meat-eater, I can’t get enough of the Lion’s Mane Truffle Burger ($9.90) from nomVnom Bistro. Chomp down onto its chewy mushroom patty and an intoxicating truffle aroma greets you, enhancing the taste of the sauteed white button mushrooms. Wrapping up this full-bodied set is a moreish black pepper truffle mayonnaise, which lends the burger a robust earthy kick.

A swanky interior ushers you in as you step through the doors of TungLok Signatures. Expect a parade of tantalising creations, including Steamed Shrimp Dumpling with Truffle Fungus (4pcs) ~ $7++)  and Crispy Roast Irish Duck ($32++ for half /$58++ for full portion). The latterwhich you can get 1-for-1 on its half portion through the ShopFarEast appimpresses with its crisp roasted skin and succulent meat.

Also worth trying is their Signature Chilli Crab ($58++). A swish of orange juices adds a citrusy undertone to the gravy, making the sauce so scrumptious, you will want an additional basket of mantou to mop it all up.

6. No Signboard Seafood Restaurant

We instinctively associate No Signboard Seafood Restaurant with quality seafood, thanks to their much-feted White Pepper Crab ($128++). A peppery fragrance and flavour courses throughout this impressive dish, bolstering the sweet crustacean with its spicy tang. Prime Canadian Dungeness crabs are preferably used in this signature dish, so you can expect to find a treasure trove of plump and juicy meat which brims with natural sweetness.

7. L’Atelier Tiramisu

Chic up your afternoon with these classy plates of tiramisu from L’Atelier Tiramisu. A bite of their Classico Tiramisu ($7.50) cake leaves you enamoured, as a creamy mascarpone cheese is intensified with coffee, coffee liqueur and chocolate. L’Atelier Tiramisu also features other unique variations, such as the Matcha Tiramisu ($7.50). Here, the ladyfingers are infused with Japanese green tea and dark rum, which lightens the toothsome confectionery with a mellow bitterness.

8. Brewerkz

Resting quietly by the Singapore River, Brewerkz offers a quiet hideout to chill with a pint of beer. We were recommended to pair their house-brewed Golden Ale ($12++) with the Cowboy Burger ($25++) comprising a juicy beef patty, BBQ sauce and crispy bacon. Light with fruity undertones, the crisp brew cleansed our palate and allowed us to better appreciate the latter’s rich and meaty flavours.

If you’re up for a heavier meal, rally your friends to try the 3 Big Pigs ($90++) platter, which fills your bellies with Italian pork sausages, baby back ribs, and a colossal fried pork knuckle.

9. Cafe Iguana

From flavourful chimichangas to hearty burritos, Cafe Iguana has dashed straight into our hearts with their exciting Mexican fare. The main draw is their Steak Fajitas ($29++)—juicy slabs of beef lend a smoky touch to a piquant medley of sauteed onions, peppers, and guacamole. If you’re addicted to their guacamole, make a beeline for their Salsa Flight ($15++), which features their five signature dips as well as free-flow tortilla chips!

The largest bar chain in Singapore, Harry’s provides a fail-safe setting for a memorable night out. Apart from an extensive selection of beers, this homey bar also dishes up a delicious lineup of platters and burgers. Their popular Harry’s Jazz Burger ($23++) needs no introduction, offering a satisfying combo of juicy wagyu patty, caramelised onion jam, and double cheese.

We also recommend their Beer Battered Fish & Chips ($25++), which was light yet crisp on the outside, while soft and tender on the inside.
