DOME Bakery: New Bakery With Fudge-Filled Brownies In Chinatown

DOME Bakery has extra-fudgy brownies and muffins in Chinatown

It’s a pretty well-known fact that chocolate makes you happier. And if a little chocolate will cheer you up, surely a truly indulgent amount of chocolate, lovingly packed into a small, warm treat in the palm of your hand would make anybody erupt with happiness. To that end, you can bet that a piece of DOME Bakery’s extra-chocolatey brownies with gooey, lava-esque fudge will definitely put a smile on anyone’s face!

Originally a home-based business, they’ve recently opened up a physical store along South Bridge Road, conveniently located within walking distance of Chinatown, Maxwell, and Telok Ayer MRT Stations. Step inside to be met with the wonderful aroma of baking goods and friendly owners, who are happy to chat and give suggestions on what would suit your tastes.

There’s also a small seating area next to the sunshine yellow wall, with good lighting and a pretty mural for you to take aesthetic photos of your chosen bakes under before you dig in.

They are best known for their Fudging Good Brownies, which, as the name suggests, are full of fudge and really, really good. Made with pure Belgian chocolate, these blackout brownies are so rich and dark that any chocolate lover stopping by is in for the indulgence of a lifetime.

Each square brownie comes with a different, colourful filling that tempers the richness of the dense, moist brownie. You have more conventional flavours such as the sweet Biscoff Cookie ($6.50) and salty Peanut Butter Pecan ($6), each topped with an actual Lotus Biscoff and pecan nut respectively. There’s also more unusual flavours, such as Yuzu Cranberry ($6.80), a seasonal special with a citrusy core speckled with chewy cranberry bits.

Alternatively, if you would like something simpler but no less decadent, try the sweet and salty Smoked Sea Salt Brownie ($6) for a no-frills brownie with a dark, viscous fudge and a slight, smoky aroma. The OG brownie that started it all, the 70% Dark Chocolate Brownie ($6), doesn’t look like much either, but its 70% dark chocolate cocoa filling is one for only the most avid of chocolate aficionados.

If you get these for takeaway, follow the instructions on the box given! The best brownies in town, IMO, taste the best after warming up your brownie in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds, so that the molten core oozes right out of your warm brownie when you bite in.

For an IG-worthy shot, cut them into halves to show off the colourful fudge within, such as the striking hot pink of the Raspberry ($6.80) and the green Matcha Macadamia ($6.50). Rest assured that each brownie baked here is as good as they look–the tangy sweetness of the raspberry and the bittersweet creaminess of their house-made, matcha-infused white chocolate filling will leave you wanting more. The good news is you can get a Fudging Good Brownie Box of any six brownies for $34: much cheaper than if you bought each one individually!

While their brownies are fudging good, keep an eye out for their other bakes too! We recommend their Dark Chocolate Lava Muffin ($5), which has a warm, gooey bottom that goes well with the moist, crumbly top. Like the brownies, this muffin is best enjoyed after being warmed up in the microwave for about 20 seconds.

By the way, any six bakes you purchase from them right now gets you $2 off your total order!
